Victoria "Tori" Monzelle has been working as an informant
for the DEA, but getting kidnapped and dragged around by
guys who claim to be witches isn't part of the deal. She
doesn't believe in magic and nonsense, but when Adam Dunne
comes to her rescue she starts to believe a little. Anybody
who can give such a WICKED KISS has got to have some kind of
magic in him.
Adam is a witch enforcer and he has his hands full. The
Coven Nine, which is down to three, thanks to some
shenanigans that Adam is busy looking into, as well as the
death warrants on friends and family and now Tori is
missing. So what's a guy to do but drop everything and go to
the rescue of the wayward love of his life.
WICKED KISS is another amazing, funny and action packed book
by Rebecca Zanetti. Her Realm
Enforcers is a fascinating series that deals with
witches who throw fire. Add in a couple of vampires and a
demon or two and you better hold on to your seats, you are
in for a wild ride. Tori is just trying to help put an end
to the drug Apollo that is killing people and thinks that
Adam is part of the motorcycle club that is dealing the
drug, but faithful readers know the truth. He's one of the
good guys.
Tori, who at first thought the witch thing was nonsense,
soon realizes the truth and, in fact, has a bit of power
herself. She is a holy terror on electrical devices, she
can't stay on a cell phone for more than a couple of
minutes, microwaves start up on their own and don't even
ask about motorcycles. This leads to a number of
interesting moments for the two of them. As the story moves
on at its rapid pace, Adam finds time to work with her on
her little problem, if only to save his electronics.
She also learns quickly that dealing with Adam, who is the most
straitlaced of the Dunnes, is not easy. She does try to
stand up against the mating thing (the coven demands Adam
mate her or they will kill her because she knows about
witches), she kind of wants it to be his choice because he
loves her. Is that really too much to ask? I will warn
readers that the sexual atmosphere between these two tends
toward the dom/sub, which isn't my thing, but it seemed to
fit with his controlled/controlling personality.
It always nice to get back with some of Ms. Zanetti's past
characters especially Dage, the smart ass vampire king and
Adam's brothers and family members. I also appreciated the
heads up about Bear and councilwoman Nessa. That is going to
be a very good story.
If you want a wild ride, colored fire flying, bad guys, and
love finding two people who need it, then WICKED KISS needs
to be in your hands right now.
Working as an informant for the DEA, Victoria Monzelle is
used to living on the edge. But she’s not a big fan of
getting kidnapped. And definitely not by a bunch of bad boy
witches with fancy-colored fire to shoot at people. So when
Adam Dunne shows up and claims to be a witch enforcer, she’s
not going to put her life in his hands based on his word, no
matter how smooth and smart and beautifully Irish his words
sound. But on the run from a tribunal of witches, she isn’t
going to make it far . . .
Before she knows it, Adam’s word is all that stands between
her and execution. Sophisticated, just-gotta-ruffle-him Adam
has vowed to make her his one eternal mate, wild and
unpredictable as she is—to save her from a sentence of
certain death. But Tori isn’t interested in being anyone’s
pity date. And if they think she’s unpredictable now, they
should see what’s coming next . . .
