Matthias Clarke is a security expert and an enforcer who
deploys people to fix things. This time though, he steps out
of the office himself because it's personal. Seven years ago,
his brother was killed in a massacre and the sole survivor
disappeared. Was she a victim or the killer, he intends to
find out and get justice.
Kayla Roy has been on the run for years. Hiding, changing
identities and running whenever the past catches up with her.
But she is tired now and her stubborn friend doesn't make
things easy for her when she wants to run, feeling suspicious
of this dark enigmatic stranger. So she stays on and despite
her wariness, she cannot help but be intrigued and attracted
to Matthias. He is awkward, blunt and persistent. When her
past catches up with her again, he proves to be a protector
she never expected. But what happens when she finds the truth
about him?
Nothing about Kayla points to her being the killer. The
attraction and Matthias's instinct to protect her doesn't help
matters when instead of investigating further, he stays on
trying to court her. When threat from her past comes knocking
with an unexpected manipulator of strings, Matthias needs his
head in the game if he wants to save Kayla, this time from
disappearing permanently, in death.
Helenkay Dimon completely blew me away with THE ENFORCER.
Matthias Clarke is unlike any hero I have ever read. He is
awkward with serious people skills. Love how Garrett keeps
pulling his and Wren's leg about their social interactions.
And if he is any example of Wren being similar, am definitely
picking the first book in this series. I was laughing
throughout their conversations. But this does not define
Matthias. He might be anti-social but he is an intelligent,
protective man with a dark background and emotional
vulnerability which makes him human and all the more lovable.
Kayla is one heck of a strong lady. Love how she survived and
still did not leave behind her innate friendliness. What she
stumbled into was horrifying but she braved through it and did
not let it define her even if it has been years since she had
someone to lean on. And love the fact she didn't spend much
time wallowing in self-pity. Their chemistry is amazing but so
is their understanding of each other. Especially Matthias when
he finally gets her to open up. That was one emotional scene.
They are perfect for each other.
I can go on and on. To cut it short, THE ENFORCER is a fun
romantic suspense with enough heat to sizzle, suspense to keep
on edge and heart to play with your emotions and make you
laugh. One of the best romantic suspense I have read this
year. Just expect a different sort of hero than you are used
to. I cannot wait to see what Ms. Dimon has next in store for
us. Hopefully Garrett's book. Do not miss THE ENFORCER!
Security expert Matthias Clarke hunts down people who don’t
want to be found. His latest prey: the sole survivor of a
massacre that killed his brother years ago. Kayla Roy
claimed she was a victim of the carnage. Then she
disappeared. Matthias thinks Kayla may have actually been
the killer—and he wants justice.
Kayla Roy never stays in one place too long and never lets a
man get too close. But keeping Matthias at arm’s length may
be impossible. Dark and enigmatic, Matthias draws Kayla in
from the start. She knows nothing about his connection to
her dark past, or his thirst for vengeance. She only knows
their attraction feels overpowering—and very dangerous.
Matthias’s suspicions about the sensual Kayla clash with his
instinct to protect her, especially when he realizes her
life is in danger. But Kayla’s not looking for a
savior—especially one who seems hell-bent on tempting her
down a lethal path.
