THE CANDIDATE

Thriller

Erica Sparks is one of the country's top reporters. Erica's show is number one on her cable network. Now the one story that she really wants is hosting the president debate. She wants to do an indepth story on the two candidates. One is Mike Ortiz, a war hero. The other one is a Fred Buchanan, a Midwestern man. Both candidates have what it takes to be president.

As both candidates are arriving at the debate center Erica is there ready to get interviews. Just as the Buchanan's arrive a bomb goes off and the candidate and his wife are killed. Shock waves go through the crowd. Everyone is upset by this terrible crime, except for Mike Ortiz and his wife, Celeste. Can Erica find out what is behind this attack?

What a great book by Lis Wiehl! Even though THE CANDIDATE was written before the election, there is so much that rings true in the election of 2016. Even some of the candidates name were mentioned.

I really like the way that Wiehl keeps you in suspense until the very end. Who are the good guys, who are the bad? Wiehl also shows how some people would do anything to win an election. THE CANDIDATE is a great book and a fast read. But in the end, will the good guy win out?

Pick it up, read it, and see the similar story that is going on today.

SUMMARY

How far will a candidate go to become president? Erica Sparks—America’s top-rated cable-news host—is about to find out. Mike Ortiz is a dynamic war hero favored to win the White House. Standing by his side is his glamorous and adoring wife, Celeste. But something about this seemingly perfect couple troubles Erica. Is Celeste really who she seems? And most importantly, what really happened in that squalid Al-Qaeda prison where Mike Ortiz spent nine months? But more than the nation’s future is at stake. Erica’s relentless search for the truth puts the life of her preteen daughter Jenny in danger, even as Erica’s own dark past threatens to overtake her. In her latest Newsmakers thriller, NewYork Times bestselling author and Fox News legal analyst Lis Wiehl weaves a taut and chilling story. The Candidate is packed with political intrigue and media manipulation as the lust for power turns deadly indeed.
