Jodi Thomas packed quite a lot of action in this fourth
book of the Ransom Canyon series. It's actually four tales
expertly woven together. No small feat but then again it's
what you've come to expect from Jodi Thomas. SUNRISE
CROSSING just may be the best of the bunch and considering
the wondrous stories of the series thus far -- well that's
quite a feat.
The hard part of doing justice to the review of SUNRISE
CROSSING is avoiding anything close to resembling a
spoiler. So here goes.
Small town life is really interesting and bulging at the
seams with people who know everyone and everyone's
business. There are no strangers in a small town and
especially it seems in Ransom Canyon. Everyone seems to
be connected. In SUNRISE CROSSING we learn about several
folks, some new to Crossroads, others returning after a
long absence and also lifelong citizens. Jodi Thomas
readily and craftily includes them all in this story.
Several just have cameos but even then their role is
important.
Yancy Grey has been relishing his new chance at a good
life in his new hometown. The townspeople have really
taken to him. It's easy to see why. Yancy is a good guy
with a big heart that unfortunately made mistakes when
younger. Hey don't we all. Yancy paid the price and did
his time. Now he is a respected member of this small
town, with lots of friends, putting all his efforts into
renovating his home, but he is lonely. Yancy's not really
sure what's he's missing until Tori falls into his life.
It's about time that Yancy has a storyline. In SUNRISE
CROSSING Jodi Thomas finally lets Yancy shine. Thomas
created this wonderful character several books ago and
invited us to watch him grow. Jodi Thomas loves the folks
in her stories and it is so evident. Flaws and all these
characters have become friends. The Ransom Canyon series
has been addictive. It's always a good time to jump
aboard. SUNRISE CROSSING by Jodi Thomas is a crowd
pleaser. Enjoy.
