Sometimes what you believe in can get you in trouble. Lucy
Simmons is a public defender who hates sloppy police work
that lets criminals walk, she just wants it all to be fair.
Evan "Evil" Villiers hates sloppy police work too, but this
former cop has a different take on things. He now belongs
to the Sentinels of Babylon (SOB) and he's made a vow to
not let criminals get away with their crimes thanks to
public defenders finding loopholes. They all feel they are
a NECESSARY EVIL.
After rescuing Lucy from a mugging gone bad, he finds his
sworn duty and the deepening feelings for Lucy have him
completely confused. He believes in what they are doing ...
when the law fails they don't but Lucy's brother is next on
their list.
Lucy is no fool, she knows Evil is nothing but trouble but
she can't help herself, there is something about him that
keeps pulling her into his world. But would if be possible
to forgive the man when it's her only living relative that
is in the SOB's sights.
NECESSARY EVIL will intrigue you at every turn of the
pages. It starts out with the attack on Lucy and the rescue
by Evil and the pace just keeps thundering by from there.
I'm not sure readers are suppose to root for vigilantes but
what the heck ... I liked Evil and his Babylon brothers and
Lucy grew on me very quickly as she is spunky and honestly
believes in what she is doing. This is book one of a new
series and is filled with a variety of characters, I can
see many opportunities for more books following this fake
M/C club. I found it an interesting twist that the
beginning of the book wasn't actually the beginning of Evil
and Lucy, they shared an extremely hot kiss at his
retirement but Lucy doesn't plan on being friends with
benefits and she is sure he would want nothing more. Little
does she know.
Are you looking for a man and woman who believe in what
they are doing, twists and turns with a sweet and steamy
romance? Then I believe NECESSARY EVIL is what you are
looking for.
In this steamy series opener from bestselling author
Jamie K. Schmidt—whose writing has been called “hot and
sexy, with just the right amount of emotional punch,” by
Lauren Layne—a vigilante biker takes the power of love into
his own hands.
Lucy Simmons comes from a rough family, but she’s a damn
good public defender. Even though she hates to see criminals
walk due to sloppy police work, the law’s there to make sure
everyone gets a fair trial, and Lucy certainly doesn’t
believe in the kind of justice meted out by the leather-clad
ex-cop they call “Evil.” He’s stubborn, cynical, and out of
control—but he plays her body like no man ever has. For
once, both Lucy’s boss and her brother agree: The biker is
trouble.
Evan Villiers took a sacred vow to let no killer, rapist, or
pedophile go unpunished. When scumbags fall through the
system, the Sentinels of Babylon clean up the garbage.
Although the SOBs and their methods may not be to Lucy’s
liking, the beautiful lawyer has become Evan’s light in the
dark. But his next hit is Lucy’s own brother—a murderer who
got off on a technicality. Now, with his loyalties split,
Evan must turn his back on his sworn duties . . . or lose
the woman who has claimed his reckless heart.
