On a freezing Minneapolis night, a three-month-old baby is
kidnapped from a wealthy neighborhood. The babysitter is
attacked and the baby, Elizabeth Ann, is taken from her
home. Her well-to-do parents are devastated, particularly
her mother, and are desperate to find her.
The Minneapolis Police were called immediately and the
search for Elizabeth Ann begins. The babysitter, even though
banged up a bit, survives her attack and is able to speak to
the police. The police family liaison officer is Afton
Tangler. She has seen some pretty awful things during her
time with the police, but this one seems worse than other
crimes because the victim is a baby.
Afton and Mike, the officer working the case, are joined by
the FBI in order to find little Elizabeth Ann before it is
too late. There is a raging snow storm but Afton knows that
time is of the essence and they have none of it to waste.
This is why they are out following leads as to where the
baby is.
As they investigate, clues begin to point a serial offender.
Whoever took Elizabeth Ann has done this before and will do it
again if not stopped. Secrets and lies begin to emerge,
making the investigation even more difficult. Soon, they all
begin to wonder if they will find Elizabeth Ann before she
is harmed.
LITTLE GIRL GONE is a story that hits the ground running. I
was caught up in it from the first page. As a reader, I was
allowed to meet all of the "players" in this horrific game
throughout the book. This is not a "whodunit" sort of plot
but more of a "cat and mouse" tale. Knowing both the good
guys and the bad guys from the beginning only makes it more
thrilling. The chase is on and is hindered by many dangers
along the way.
Afton Tangler is a wonderful character! She is brave, strong
and yet, holds her two daughters very close to her heart.
She also loves her job but really gets into the
investigative side of the various cases where her skills are
needed. Plus, she is really good at ferreting out
information and has an excellent nose for spotting clues
that others might miss.
Written in a way that draws readers into the plot, LITTLE
LOST GIRL provides plenty of emotion and excitement with
some truly intense and nerve jangling scenes. I cannot say
enough great things about the uniqueness of the plot. It is
certainly not a tale that you are likely to find in other
books very often, if ever.
LITTLE LOST GIRL is the perfect book for those readers who
love going along for a tremendously, harrowing ride to a
perfectly satisfying ending.
In the first Afton Tangler thriller, the unforgiving cold
of a Minnesota winter hides the truth behind an even more
chilling crime…
On a frozen night in an affluent neighborhood of
Minneapolis, a baby is abducted from her home after her
teenage babysitter is violently assaulted. The parents are
frantic, the police are baffled, and, with the perpetrator
already in the wind, the trail is getting colder by the second.
As family liaison officer with the Minneapolis P.D., it’s
Afton Tangler’s job to deal with the emotional aftermath of
terrible crimes—but she’s never faced a case quite as brutal
as this. Each development is more heartbreaking than the
last and the only lead is a collection of seemingly
unrelated clues.
But, most disturbing of all, Afton begins to suspect that
this case is not isolated. Whoever did this has taken
babies before—and if Afton doesn’t solve this crime soon,
more children are sure to go missing . . .
