Have you discovered Elisabeth Barrett yet? Well what are
you waiting for? Barrett caught my eye several years ago
with a short story that captured my heart and has resonated
all this time. The title ANYWHERE YOU ARE has many
significant meanings in Elisabeth Barrett's latest book in
the Return to Briarwood series. The series centers on the
renovations planned for Briarwood Golf Club which has been
hampered because of the discovery of a rather rare bird.
Lovely characters reside in this book based in an out of
the way town in Connecticut where locals and celebrities
seem to meld seamlessly. Perfect place to live regardless
of who you are -- but unfortunately no place is that
perfect.
As Grace is discovering. The situation is somewhat similar
to that of the main characters in Nottinghill. Paparazzi
making it nearly impossible to have a normal life off the
big screen. Although many are smart enough and fortunate
enough to figure out a way. Certain communities assist by
honoring their neighbor's privacy. And in Eastbridge Grace
is hoping she has found a home and sanctuary away from
constant flashing bulbs.
Grace and Marcus have basically nothing in common. Grace is
from a family steeped in the entertainment world, in fact
her family has its own reality show. Oddly enough there is
a lot of love in Grace's family but she needed her space
from the notoriety, gossip and absence of privacy.
Unfortunately the only way she could manage that was to
leave the show and try to fashion a more quiet life
hopefully fulfilling her own goals and dreams.
Marcus' family is definitely missing the close loving
relationship that usually cements a family unit. His
parents are estranged as are his sisters. Everyone has
scattered including Marcus. His life now revolves around
his business and two close friends. They are busy trying to
get permission to continue work on the golf club they
purchased. Marcus spends more time flying here and there
than in any place even close to calling home.
Strangely enough Grace catches the eye of Marcus with the
help of a great dane named Big Blue. ANYWHERE YOU ARE is
about finding that person that smooths out your rough
edges, makes you smile and has you looking forward to
spending time. Grace is busy establishing herself in the
field of capturing wildlife artistically hoping to have her
paintings and drawings published. She cares about these
creatures she brings to life on the canvas. But she is
lonely in her new home and Marcus and Big Blue are helping
fill that void.
Marcus is too busy for a personal life -- or so he thinks
until he meets Grace. Grace challenges Marcus on so many
levels. And unbelievably he begins to relish these moments.
ANYWHERE YOU ARE has shades of several reality shows mixed
together to form a beautiful capivating story about the
many facets of love. Elisabeth Barrett excels in
relationships that are challengingly worthwhile. Hey
anything worth having is worth working for and in ANYWHERE
YOU ARE these amazing characters have their work cut out
for them.
The author of Once and Again (“Engaging, sexy, and
immensely touching.”—Marina Adair) invites readers back to
the Briarwood with a novel about a single-minded businessman
and the rock princess who melts his heart.
As the daughter of a music legend, Grace Davingham knows all
too well what it’s like to be burned by the media’s glare.
Now all she wants is to be left to do her painting and
conservation work in peace, with no intention of returning
to the spotlight. But after she sprains her ankle hiking and
a handsome real-estate mogul comes to her rescue, Grace once
again finds herself in the public eye.
Sexy, successful, and averse to any attachments, Marcus
Colby thrives on rigid discipline in order to manage both
his real-estate investment company and his personal life.
Marc has no time for fun, and no patience for crazy. Which
is why meeting Grace—and inheriting an enormous Great Dane
who won’t listen to a word he says—has turned Marc’s
carefully constructed world upside down.
Only when Grace and Marc square off over a local controversy
do they realize how different they really are. But if
opposites attract, their love is destined to bind them
together—forever.
