Romance Contemporary

A LITTLE MORE LOVE is book five in Kendra Leigh Castle's Harvest Cove series. This Harvest Cove series by Kendra Leigh Castle has been a favorite of mine since the very first book. A LITTLE MORE LOVE is one of those stories in which the hero and heroine have an almost instant attraction, and discover that they have a billion things in common. The one wrench that Kendra Leigh Castle throws into the mix, and stops the romance that develops between Fitz and Kira from becoming too idyllic too fast, is that Fitz has a secret. Happily Fitz's secret isn't of the tragic variety, but it is something that he wants to keep from Kira until he's gotten to know her better.

Henry "Fitz" Fitzroy was one of the first characters in this Harvest Cove series to strike my interest, so I'm thrilled to finally read his story. Fate seems to intervene when Kira Andersen's brother sends his friend Fitz to pick her up from the airport. One of the things that makes A LITTLE MORE LOVE so delicious is the way Kira and Fitz are both struck tongue-tied when they're around each other because of how incredibly attracted they are. Having A LITTLE MORE LOVE told from alternating perspectives reveals the inner agony, ecstasy, and amusing awkwardness that the main characters experience.

Kira and Fitz are equally sympathetic and flawed characters. Kendra Leigh Castle provides enough background information on Kira and Fritz to help the reader understand them better. Finding out the identity of successful yet reclusive fiction writer Malcolm Roy, and getting an interview with him, is very important to Kira's career. When it becomes clear that just about everybody in the small town of Harvest Cove knows Malcolm is really Fitz -- except for Kira -- the tension gradually escalates. You know that it's only a matter of time before everything blows up in Fitz's face. It's frustrating watching Fitz get his dream girl, but struggle with his need for secrecy. Kira is a woman who has known the sting of betrayal, but I like that she doesn't come across as bitter. Kira and Fitz's moments together are alternately funny, super steamy, and sigh- worthy.

A LITTLE MORE LOVE is a little sassy and a whole lot of fabulous. A LITTLE MORE LOVE is filled with the kind of well-crafted, imperfect yet wonderful characters that are a hallmark of this series. Kendra Leigh Castle always balances the sexy bits with emotional punch and provides comfort food for the soul. These characters have become friends and I will miss them greatly. Even though I am heartbroken that this Harvest Cove series has to end, I greatly look forward to Kendra Leigh Castle's next book.

SUMMARY

For fans of Jill Shalvis and Kristan Higgins, a sweet, small-town romance about writing your own happy ending...

Kira Andersen’s professional instinct for a story has never led her wrong. So when she learns of a famous writer hiding in plain sight in a tiny New England town, she can’t resist following the trail. The only problem is everyone in Harvest Cove seems intent on keeping her from tracking down the elusive author—especially a handsome distraction who’s making it very hard to focus on the job...

Henry “Fitz” Fitzroy has no intention of letting a nosy journalist uncover his alter-ego as superstar writer Malcom Roy. Only Kira’s persistence is hard to deny—as is his own attraction to her. The more time he spends with her, the more he discovers he’d give almost anything to keep her in his life. But as work and play become inexorably entwined for Kira and Fitz, they realize that getting what they want for their careers might mean losing everything their hearts desire...
