ALWAYS MY GIRL is the third book in the Shaughnessy Brothers series by Samantha Chase and it's the one I have been looking forward to reading. What I love about this story is how this was a friendship that in many ways is one-sided because it seems like one of them was always giving. The third Shaughnessy Brother, Quinn, took total advantage of his best friend, Anna. Quinn and Anna have been best friends since they were five years old. But what happens when that friendship develops into more? What's enjoyable about this series is the relationship between the father, Ian, and each of his children. He approaches Quinn totally different with his problems than he did with Aidan and Hugh. Even though they are all adults now it feels like he is talking to them when they were kids when their mom was still alive.

Quinn and Anna have always shared everything. Whenever there was a new girl in his life, whenever he had career problems -- Anna was his sounding board. He would call her anytime, day or night, and she was always there for whatever he needed. But over the years Anna fell in love with Quinn -- who is clueless. Anna wants Quinn to see her as more than his "best buddy" so she makes changes in her life hoping he will notice. Quinn was always the brother who did whatever he felt like doing -- not caring about others opinion.

Now Quinn begins to see Anna as more than a "buddy" and it scares the crap out of him and he can't seem to handle all that goes with it. All of his family including Anna's brother have always known how Anna feels about him. Hearing repeated opinions of how he is not good enough for Anna begins to affect how Quinn sees his treatment of Anna.

What is great about this story is that Anna finally learns to put her feelings first and to stop being a doormat for Quinn. Quinn learns how selfish he has been and learns what "real" friendship means. This is a great series and I am looking forward to reading about the rest of the family.

SUMMARY

Book #3 in New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Samantha Chase's dazzling new series. The Shaughnessy Brother you've been waiting for! Sometimes the love that's closest to you is the hardest to see. Quinn Shaughnessy's two older brothers have found their true loves ... but Quinn's not about to join that parade. Nope, as he tells his best friend Anna, there's a lot more to life than getting tied down to one person. He's positive tomboy Anna will be on his side - except she's inexplicably developing other interests - even dating! Suddenly Quinn is seeing Anna in a very different light. Quinn has been Anna's buddy since they were both five years old. She can tell him anything - except the one big secret she's been hiding for years - that she's fallen in love with him. Now Anna is determined to make a life for herself that doesn't include pining for Quinn. Falling in love with your best friend? Easy. Telling them how you really feel? Impossible.
