Thriller

TOM CLANCY COMMANDER IN CHIEF is a Jack Ryan novel. For fans of Jack you know he is the current President of the United States and his son Jack Ryan Jr has been running around with The Campus in his own series of spy novels. These two and all your favorite Tom Clancy characters come together as Russian President Valeri Volodin, has found himself in a dangerous situation. The economy has made a turn for the worse and the Russian Oligarchs are prepared to oust Volodin if he doesn't fix things quick.

What Volodin comes up with is a plan that will permanently change the balance of power in the world and Jack Ryan must use the full force of the United States political and military power to stop him.

Tom Clancy was known for his ability to write books that keep up with the current times and usually foretell the future and COMMANDER IN CHIEF hits right in the headlines.

Tom Clancy's characters along with Mark Greaney's writing are the perfect combination. For those of you who don't know who Tom Clancey, well, I can't help you, for there is no help for you but to read all his books. One of which is the best ever written in the genre, RED STORM RISING. But back to the combination of these two men, Mark Greaney has a series called the Grey Man, best former government assassin, ever. Now put his killer spy writing, his own cool characters development skills, serious research to get it right and combine it with the man who is one of the originals and greatest in the genre of spy thrillers and getting it right and you have an awesome book. Let's just hope whoever gets to decide who writes the next in the series realize they need to stick with Mark Greaney and not screw up the stories by giving a bone to other authors. I believe Mark Greaney has proven in the Clancy books he has written he is the one to do it.

If you're a late bloomer and want to start reading the series here go for it. But I'm telling you nothing like an old cold war story to make you remember the Russia we used to deal with, the one Jack Ryan remembers and is trying to prevent from taking that half of the world again.

Mark Greaney has done a great job keeping up the research and stories that are keeping with current times. TOM CLANCY COMMANDER IN CHIEF is well written book worth reading any time and any place.

SUMMARY

The newest electrifying thriller in the #1 New York Times–bestselling series has President Jack Ryan and his allies facing a treacherous foe threatening to unleash chaos around the globe. . . .

When Russian President Valeri Volodin’s ambitions are foiled in Dagestan, he faces a difficult choice. The oligarchs who support him expect a constant flow of graft, but with energy prices cratering, the Russian economy sputters to a virtual halt. Unable to grow the Russian market at home, his hold on power relies on expansion abroad—a plan that has been thwarted by the United States in the past.

But this time Volodin has determined that an indirect approach is the best. A floating natural gas facility in Lithuania is blown up. A Venezuelan prosecutor is assassinated. A devastating attack on a Russian troop train kills dozens. A chaotic world is the best camouflage for a series of seemingly unrelated attacks.

Only one man recognizes an ominous pattern in the reports of terror from around the globe. U.S. President Jack Ryan sees a guiding hand in the worldwide chaos, but before he can act he needs proof.

While his intelligence agencies race to uncover the truth behind the attacks, the President struggles to unite a fractious and distrustful coalition of Western nations against the schemes of the Russian dictator.

With five thousand Russian troops poised to invade a NATO nation, can Jack Ryan move swiftly enough to stop Volodin’s grand plan of global conflict and conquest? Or will he succeed in changing the balance of world power forever?
