What could be better than a new book by R.C. Ryan? Well a new series of course. MATT is the first story of The Malloy's of Montana series and take it from me it's riveting. In MATT R.C. Ryan introduces a resourceful, loving family that will take on anyone that dares to threaten their lifestyle and people. The Malloys maintain a huge ranch in the Montana mountain area with hard work, ingenuity and intelligence. The Malloys are going to need all this and more when danger invades their world.
Matt Malloy has taken on the expected responsibilities being the oldest of three brothers. Their parents killed in a freak car accident Matt, Luke and Reid are left in the care of grandparents and an amazing support staff at the family ranch. Matt often travels as sort of a sales person for ranch products. As much as he enjoys his travels Matt's heart is Malloy Ranch. Although Malloy Ranch encompasses several thousand miles the family is well respected by the town and enjoys a wonderful relationship with everyone it seems.
Vanessa Kettering is quite a surprise on many fronts. Vanessa was on the Malloy Ranch to interview Gracie -- Matt's grandmother -- who was a noted photographer of wild mustangs among other species. Vanessa is a lawyer working as a wild animal advocate. This interview would be a feather in her cap. But instead of meeting with Gracie, Vanessa found herself with grandson Matt who proves to be diligent and unmovable. So instead of a quick visit Vanessa's time with Matt was fated to be rather extensive.
Totally unexpected Vanessa needs a safe place to remain -- a hideout so to speak - since it appears there is a threat to her safety. The Malloy family is determined to keep this lovely woman safe and the seclusion of their vast land would appear to be a great solution.
The race is on to keep Vanessa secure and Matt is determined that nothing will happen to her on his watch.
In the meantime we are treated to an adventure with Gracie and Vanessa in the wilds witnessing the spectacle of the world of the mustangs in their natural environment. Beautiful imagery and careful attention to the respect for these animals are all par for R.C. Ryan and her love of all things nature. Camping out should be rough and tough but with the Malloys there is an element of civilization in all they do and camping is no exception. Just wait till you see what they consider roughing it.
Pure enjoyment even with an element of danger MATT is a visually wonderful tale. R.C. Ryan creates an eclectic group -- a family -- filled with characters so lovable and intelligent that you can't help getting attached. MATT is an exciting adventure romance with a majestic setting. The Malloys of Montana promises to be another fabulous series by R.C. Ryan.
