Romance Contemporary

Riley Lockhart shares a loft apartment with his sister Rarity, and her best friend, Emma. And with him working unusual hours, this arrangement has worked out perfectly, like ships passing in the night. But when Emma gets engaged and becomes bridezilla, Riley thinks things can't get much worse. Oh boy is he wrong! When Emma gets dumped by her no good fiance, and Rarity has to leave for a week for work, Riley finds himself thrown into the role of minder and protector for Emma - his idea of a nightmare. But as he spends more time with Emma it becomes clear that maybe they are just perfect for each other - but sadly life is never that simple...

Getting to know Riley has made Emma realise that she had never really loved her ex, and that there could possibly be a happily ever after later on in the future. And as Emma and Riley explore their feelings, a friendship evolves into a real relationship. Who cares if his snobbish parents can't stand her? But when life throws a life-threatening curve-ball their way, will they be able to fight their way through the darkness together? Can they find the strength to carry on and understand how precious love can be?

LA VIE EN ROSE by Lydia Michaels is a beautiful story that left me smiling and crying in equal measure. This is a romance novel that is so much more. Deeply emotional, the plot is portrayed with such care and understanding, that it will make you stop in your tracks, and appreciate what you have. Riley and Emma are strong characters that learn what love truly means, as their carefree relationship comes under pressure. Emma is a fighter even when she is struggling, and Riley is the ultimate hero, there for her every step of the way. LA VIE EN ROSE by Lydia Michaels is a powerful novel about real love, real life, real issues, and everyone should read this book.

SUMMARY

Emma Sanders has always dreamt of being a bride, wearing fancy gowns, pretty pearls, and—of course—falling madly in love. Then life happened. Finding herself one fiancé short of her happily ever after, she leaves the fairytales behind. Some days are simply too perilous for pink gowns and pearls.

Riley Lockhart is the sort of man who can make a woman lower her gaze with only a smile. That he doesn’t realize his charm makes him all the more enchanting. Determined to save Emma the pain of her breakup, he steps in as a friend, but soon finds himself wanting more.

She was just a girl, but she somehow winds up being the strongest woman he’s ever known. Losing her is not an option and when life can’t be tied neatly in a pretty little bow, he holds tight to all that he loves most in this world—his Emma. His hero.

Sometimes the greatest scars are worn on the inside.
