Romance Contemporary

TAKE ME HOME TONIGHT is Book 3 in Erika Kelly's Rock Star Romance series. Calix Bourbon and Mimi Romano are thrown into the same orbit because she is the chef for the band Blue Fire and he is the temporary keyboardist. Although there is a mutual attraction revealed very early on, it's made very clear over the course of TAKE ME HOME TONIGHT how very differently Mimi and Calix view the world and their position in it. TAKE ME HOME TONIGHT is very much a character-driven book with passionate characters who embark on a turbulent yet highly erotic romance.

For me, TAKE ME HOME TONIGHT is all about the characters, and they're the stars of the story. Of the two main characters, I'll admit that Mimi is my favorite because she represents everything I look for in a female protagonist—intelligence, strength, sensitivity, and an inability to let anybody talk down to her or patronize her. Although she desperately wants to have the relationship with her father she has always envisioned, yet never actually had, she has no trouble telling him what she wants and what she won't accept. Likewise, when Calix tells her how he doesn't do relationships, she accepts the limits he sets for himself, but makes sure he understands her needs and she won't settle for less.

Calix isn't a bad guy, but a very complicated guy with a lot of emotional baggage and misplaced guilt that he has never dealt with. His family is his world and his primary motivating force. One of the things I love about the romance between Calix and Mimi is the way that Mimi brings some positivity and a new perspective into Calix's life. The emotional bond that Mimi forms with the various members of Calix's family is a delight and brings a great deal of emotional resonance to TAKE ME HOME TONIGHT. While the relationship between Calix and his father is vastly different from the one between Mimi and her father, the impact of both relationships is beyond measure.

TAKE ME HOME TONIGHT delivers characters with soul, ridiculously sexy love scenes, and rock star cool. Erika Kelly balances the intricate character development, tangled emotions, and fiery romance impeccably. For longtime fans, TAKE ME HOME TONIGHT provides satisfying updates on other Blue Fire supercouples Slater and Emmie, and Derek and Violet. I look forward to reading the next Rock Star Romance book by Erika Kelly to see what's in store for other favorite characters.

SUMMARY

A rocker gets a taste of unexpected passion in the latest red-hot Rock Star Romance from the award-winning author of I Want You to Want Me.

Calix Bourbon might seem like a free spirit, but that’s all a front. In reality he’s just trying to keep his fractured family together while working as a session musician. When Blue Fire hires him to replace their keyboardist, Calix is determined to make the most of the opportunity—but he can’t help being distracted by the band’s sexy personal chef.

Mimi’s temporary gig is great, but she has her heart set on auditioning for a televised cooking show. There’s just one problem: she only has a week to acquire the skills necessary to survive the competition. Luckily, the band’s new keyboard player can teach her exactly what she needs, in the kitchen and in the bedroom...
