WHITE TIGER is Book 8 in Jennifer Ashley's Shifters Unbound series. If you love paranormal romance and books about shapeshifters, you can never go wrong with a Jennifer Ashley romance. Although one or two familiar characters pop up in WHITE TIGER, I think readers new to the series can jump into WHITE TIGER because the setting is very different from all the previous books. Jennifer Ashley starts things off with a bang when, right after readers are introduced to waitress Addison Price, people are shooting, the hot hero is transforming into a beast, and Addison soon goes on the run with a single dad Shifter and his three young cubs. Along the way, Jennifer Ashley manages to throw some humor and some holy-cow-wow sexy times in with all the chaos and danger.
Parts of WHITE TIGER are evocative of a classic western, with the dude ranch setting and the outlaws up to no good, all heading toward a major showdown in the end. Perhaps more importantly, while the hero might be a Shifter rather than a cowboy, Kendrick has the slow, steady, absolutely sexy, honorable hero thing locked down. I love that the major conflict in WHITE TIGER is external to the romance, and Addison and Kendrick work together rather than have any antagonism between each other. Kendrick's little boys are adorable and prove yet again how great Jennifer Ashley is at creating child characters. The danger and threat from the villain is very real in WHITE TIGER, and the mystery surrounding who might have betrayed Kendrick adds a huge dose of suspense to the story. However, as with previous books by Jennifer Ashley, the overarching themes of family and belonging makes WHITE TIGER so emotionally powerful and enjoyable. The sense of connection and belonging also adds to the intimacy in the relationship between Addison and Kendrick and ratchets up the hot factor.
WHITE TIGER has a first-rate hero, exceptional storytelling, and a seductive and sweet romance to satisfy any fan. I liked seeing favorite familiar characters like Tiger, and I enjoyed the mix of old and new characters. It was great to see what enigmatic Shifter patriarch Dylan Morrisey is up to when he's not in the Austin Shiftertown. I can't wait to find out what surprises and delights Jennifer Ashley has in store for the next installment of this phenomenal Shifters Unbound series.
