EVERY CROOKED PATH by Steven James is a novel in the Bowers Files series. While I have not read any of the others in this series, I had no problem putting the characters together. EVERY CROOKED PATH hooked me in the first chapter. It was a fast psychological thriller along with murder mystery. I was really impressed how I had to read to the end to find out the real killer. Most of the time when I read a mystery, I can figure out the killer before the end. Not in this book, and that is what makes a good mystery.
Steven James is right up there with the likes of James Patterson; I could not put EVERY CROOKED PATH down. Steven James descriptions of his characters along with the way he writes their background is great. I can't wait for more. While it does have some gruesome scenes, EVERY CROOKED PATH is not hard to read. I was sorry when this book ended, and I will be looking for other books by Steven James. When I find a book that pulls me in from the beginning, I want more.
