Author Donna Grant takes us into the world of Reapers ... a group hinted about in her Dark Kings books. This second book of the series centers on Kyran and River White, who everyone thinks is a mousy librarian. Turns out she is anything but mousy. She is a half Fae whose family had been hunted and killed by the Dark Fae for centuries. She is the last of her line and plans to end the hunting once and for all. Until she finds herself in a certain DARK ALPHA'S EMBRACE.
Kyran was a Dark Fae, but is now a Reaper, a brotherhood who does the bidding of Death. But when he sees River for the first time something in him shifts. He finds himself making promises no Reaper would ever make, but they are promises he is determined to keep. River knows it is the Fae she must hide from, but she has no way of knowing the chance meeting over some ancient books would give her answers she didn't know she was searching for.
DARK ALPHA'S EMBRACE is simply put amazing! The action jump starts from the first page and doesn't stop until the last. There is a fantastic love story, a good bit of mystery to solve, with the addition of unexpected surprises it is all set to keep the pages turning. I love that River is feisty with a bit of warrior training and that Kyran is smart enough to accept that is part of who she is.
I will add a note of warning to readers...if they did not read, DARK ALPHA'S CLAIM, book one, they might be just a little lost in the beginning, but it will only take a few pages to get caught up enough to thoroughly enjoy this series. I have this one on my TRA shelf and can't wait to get my hands on the next one ... there are a number of Reapers who need more written about them.
