In BROTHERHOOD IN DEATH Dennis Mira is furious with his
cousin Edward. They own their grandfather's home together
and
planned to honor the old man by keeping it in the family,
but his cousin plans to sell despite Dennis's refusal. A
confrontation leaves Mr. Mira unconscious and his cousin
missing. Thus bringing in Lieutenant Eve Dallas into the
fray. Though Eve is homicide, Dennis fears for his cousin's
safety and he wants the best in charge. In a short time the
missing person case turns into a full blown murder
investigation
that goes back to Edward's college days. It's an
investigation that will take a toll on Eve when the
evidence points to perpetrators with a very real and
personal
cause. Will it be possible for Eve to stand for the dead
this time? Or for those committing the crimes?
I didn't want to put BROTHERHOOD IN DEATH down. I was
immediately caught up from the first page to the last. I
proudly admit to owning all of the In Death books,
and I
feel every time I open one I am getting back into the
life of friends and family. I love the moments with all the
interesting characters we see at cop central, including
a detective with his outlandish ties and now another has
added
equally out-of-this-world socks. Then we get into a
situation in the home front where it seems Roarke is ready
for a change or two that Eve just might not be ready for.
I have to admit I have always adored the men in Eve's life.
Who wouldn't love Roarke, then add Feeney with his
endearing
rumpledness, McNabb and his colorful wardrobe and his bony
backside (and the many unwelcome discussion Peabody and Eve
have about said body part), and Mavis's bigger
than life husband and talented designer, Leonardo—an
eclectic group to say the least. But I have always had a
soft spot for Dennis Mira. To me he embodies what
everyone needs in their life. The man is a genius when it
comes to saying and doing the right thing. Which he has to
do a couple of times to soothe Eve. You will have to
read BROTHERHOOD IN DEATH to find out what and how.
Just when you think it is impossible for author J. D. Robb
(aka Nora
Roberts) to come up with something new, she brings us
us BROTHERHOOD IN DEATH. A book that will keep you turning
the pages until you get to the end and leave you wishing
for more. Definitely goes on my TRA (to read again) shelf.
The new novel featuring homicide detective Eve Dallas
from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of
Devoted in Death.Sometimes brotherhood can be another word for conspiracy.
. . .
Dennis Mira just had two unpleasant surprises. First he
learned that his cousin Edward was secretly meeting with a
real estate agent about their late grandfather’s magnificent
West Village brownstone, despite the promise they both made
to keep it in the family. Then, when he went to the house to
confront Edward about it, he got a blunt object to the back
of the head.
Luckily Dennis is married to Charlotte Mira, the NYPSD’s top
profiler and a good friend of Lieutenant Eve Dallas. When
the two arrive on the scene, he explains that the last thing
he saw was Edward in a chair, bruised and bloody. When he
came to, his cousin was gone. With the mess cleaned up and
the security disks removed, there’s nothing left behind but
a few traces for forensics to analyze.
As a former lawyer, judge, and senator, Edward Mira mingled
with the elite and crossed paths with criminals, making
enemies on a regular basis. Like so many politicians, he
also made some very close friends behind closed—and
locked—doors. But a badge and a billionaire husband can get
you into places others can’t go, and Eve intends to shine
some light on the dirty deals and dark motives behind the
disappearance of a powerful man, the family discord over a
multimillion-dollar piece of real estate . . . and a new
case that no one saw coming.
