THE HUNDRED GIFTS was my first time reading Jennifer Scott,
and I was
emotionally invested in this story from the very first
chapter. Bren is an
empty-nester who is having difficulty trying to figure out
where her life is
going. Her children are both in foreign countries. She is
missing them
more and more everyday. Her husband doesn't pay attention
to her
anymore, and it's driving her crazy. She needs to find
something to do with
her life or she knows and feels like she is going to go off
the deep end...and
it's a very short drive!
One day, Bren meets Paula who is looking for someone to run
a cooking
class. She offers the job to Bren who is excited to
finally be wanted
and needed again. After her first cooking class Bren
wonders if she has
gotten more than she bargained for. The crotchety neighbor
who lives
upstairs has done nothing but complain, and Bren is at her
wits end with
what to do about her. Bren comes up with an idea that the
class will show
Virginia kindness and give her one hundred gifts. Get read
to laugh out
loud because this idea has some snarky and hilarious
results. The women
in Bren's class are so funny and their comments are
hysterical. THE
HUNDREDS GIFTS is the kind of story that will stay with you
for a long
time after you finish reading.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading THE HUNDRED GIFTS. It is
funny and heart
warming and filled with so many different emotions. There
is so much
going on in this story, but Jennifer Scott does a
wonderful job of weaving all
the pieces together. All the characters are very real and
believable, and they
will have you feeling sad and then giggling on the
same page. More than once I wanted to be right there in
their classroom,
cooking and laughing away the night with these awesome
ladies! Once
you finish devouring their stories you are going to want to
tell everyone you
know about this awesome book. After getting a feel for
Jennifer Scott's writing, I'm going to add her to my list
of "authors I must
read" and find her previous novels and read them all.

complaining. Rather than retaliate, Bren suggests that the
class shower Virginia with kindness—and give her one
hundred
gifts. So they embark on the plan to lift a heart. Along
