THAT WASN'T CHICKEN is hilarious with many twist and turns
giving an
unexpected ending, which I love in a cozy mystery. Whether
you are reading or
listening to the audio by Michelle Babb be ready for that
outburst of laughs, which
could be embarrassing in public. As the fourth book in the
When The Fat Ladies
Sing series by Linda Kozar, it continues the story with
Lovita and her good friend
Sue Jan as they again uncover another mystery in their
little town of Wachita,
Texas.
Lovita and Hudson are expecting their first child. Many
things for them and
their friends seemed to be going their way until a law
intern who is some kind of
eye candy, disappears after having a heated argument with
Jolene's son. Jolene works at
the Crown of Glory Beauty Salon and
Boutique with Lovita and Sue Jan who have given their
business a little attention
lately while playing private eyes. While trying to keep
Jolene's son out of prison
they run across secrets that have them wondering what else
the new barbecue
restaurant is serving other than chicken.
If you love a cozy mystery with amateur sleuths, then I
highly recommend
THAT WASN'T CHICKEN written by Linda Kozar. The characters
are a lively bunch
and the story line is suspenseful and entertaining. The
audio by Michelle Babb
added life to the characters in a way that plays out in
your imagination making it
easier for you to hear and see their personality and
expressions. It is a great way to
hear a
novel with a busy life style as you listen on the go. I'm
personally looking
forward to next one in the series!
Murder, mystery meat, and morning sickness! Hudson and
Lovita
are expecting, and she's having trouble keeping food down
for
the first time in her life. Her best friend, Sue Jan, is
busy
juggling mommyhood. The Crown of Glory Beauty Salon and
Boutique
is busier than a one-toothed man in a corn-on-the-cob-
eating
contest.
Things are great until a handsome law intern disappears
after an
argument with their top stylist's once-upon-a-time wayward
son.
So Lovita and Sue Jan put down their forks and pick up the
trail
to solve the mystery before Jolene's son has to trade in
his
chef's uniform for prison stripes. But the supersized
sleuths
soon discover something very unusual about a popular new
barbecue restaurant in town. Does everything taste like
chicken,
or did they risk it eating brisket?
