Mystery

Jenn McKinlay comes to us in hardcover with her sixth Library Lover's Mystery. Librarian Lindsay Norris is delivering some books to two reclusive brothers, Stewart and Peter. She is always met on the dock by Stewart, until today. When Stewart fails to show up, she and Sully enter the house looking for him and Peter. They discover Peter dead, and the house and parts of the island have been booby-trapped to prevent people from bothering them. When the police arrive, the chief falls victim to one of the traps and breaks a leg. With Stewart missing, Lindsay is determined to find the killer. She is convinced Stewart is the next potential victim. The police chief and Lindsay have a somewhat contentious relationship. Lindsay keeps getting in the way of the police, but since the police chief is in a wheelchair, Lindsay allows her imagination free rein. She nearly gets several people killed as she tries to get Stewart to a safe place. Ms. McKinlay is an extremely talented writer. Her characters really make A LIKELY STORY, and all the books in the Library Lover's Mysteries come alive to keep readers coming back for more. The Library Lover's Mysteries are always entertaining. Reading these books makes me wish, I had more time to hang out at the library hoping to meet some of the secondary characters, although the attitude of one of the librarians will keep the reader baffled about how someone can be so sour all the time. One of my favorite parts of this series is watching two men fight over Lindsay's affections and her reactions to the gallantries. A LIKELY STORY will keep the reader guessing the identity of the killer from the beginning until the reveal.

SUMMARY

A new hardcover in the Library Lover's mystery series from the New York Times bestselling author of On Borrowed Time. Small-town librarian Lindsey Norris must solve a murder and a missing person's case involving two reclusive brothers.

NOT HIS BROTHER'S KEEPER

Delivering books to the housebound residents of the Thumb Islands, just a short boat ride from the town of Briar Creek, library director Lindsey Norris has befriended two elderly brothers, Stewart and Peter Rosen. She enjoys visiting them in their treasure-filled, ramshackle Victorian on Star Island until she discovers that Peter has been killed and Stewart is missing. Now she's determined to solve a murder and find Stewart before he suffers his brother's fate.
