South Carolina Low Country is one of my favorite places to
spend the
afternoon. ALL THE SINGLE LADIES is a quick read and
filled with
wonderful characters. All of their one liners had me
laughing out loud, and I
fell in love with each of them through out this wonderful
story. ALL THE SINGLE
LADIES starts out
with Kathy is in her last days, her battle with cancer at
its end. She is
young, only fifty years oldn and her friends are rallying
around her hoping to
keep her around longer. Her nurse, Lisa St. Clair has
gotten very close to
her as well as to her best friends, Carrie and Suzanne.
Lisa, a divorced nurse who is struggling to make ends meet
suddenly loses
her house and Suzanne steps right up and offers her a room
in her house.
The women have become so close while dealing with cleaning
out Kathy's
apartment and Lisa is shocked that Suzanne would help her
out in such a
huge way. ALL THE SINGLE
LADIES is about these three woman who are so far, unlucky
in love but
they never give up and keep on trying. I love the support
they have for
each other, and their friendship is heartwarming. I love
how Dorothea
Benton Frank portrays their struggles and how they find the
strength to
keep smiling and moving forward.
All three of these friends are a bit older, and it is
awesome to see that they
aren't giving up on finding happiness. This is the third
novel by Dorothea
Benton Frank I have read, and I have loved them all. I'm
on a quest to
read all the others because I love that the stories are not
really depressing
or too heavy. They are the perfect way to spend the day.
I want to move to
the Low Country and find friends just like Lisa, Carrie,
and Suzanne. I can't
forget Suzanne's grandmother, Trudie! She is 99 and always
says exactly
what is on her mind, and it is hysterical. While these
friends try to solve
the mysteries that surround Kathy's life they bond over
Krispy Kremes!
What could be better than that? ALL THE SINGLE LADIES is
filled with
friendship, challenges, and mystery. Being single doesn't
mean you have
to be alone! I can't wait to read more of Dorothea Benton
Frank's novels.
The perennial New York Times bestselling author
returns with an emotionally resonant novel that illuminates
the power of friendship in women’s lives, and is filled with
her trademark wit, poignant and timely themes, sassy,
flesh-and-blood characters, and the steamy Southern
atmosphere and beauty of her beloved Carolina
Lowcountry.
Few writers capture the complexities,
pain, and joy of relationships—between friends, family
members, husbands and wives, or lovers—as beloved New
York Times bestselling author Dorothea Benton Frank. In
this charming, evocative, soul-touching novel, she once
again takes us deep into the heart of the magical Lowcountry
where three amazing middle-aged women are bonded by another
amazing woman’s death.
Through their shared loss they
forge a deep friendship, asking critical questions. Who was
their friend and what did her life mean? Are they living the
lives they imagined for themselves? Will they ever be able
to afford to retire? How will they maximize their happiness?
Security? Health? And ultimately, their own
legacies?
A plan is conceived and unfurls with each
turn of the tide during one sweltering summer on the Isle of
Palms. Without ever fully realizing how close they were to
the edge, they finally triumph amid laughter and maybe even
newfound love.
