It is 1817 and Braeden McKinnon is travelling back to his
home
in the Highlands on a matter of some importance. For even
though Braeden is only twenty-eight years old, he is
already
an esteemed Professor at Edinburgh University, and he
wishes
to cement his career with an expedition to Rome. And he
hopes
his acceptance letter awaits him at home in the Highlands.
But
during his return journey, Braeden comes across a lady in
distress and like a true gentleman, he offers assistance.
But
Lady Sarah is unlike any woman he has ever met -
compelling,
beautiful, intelligent and spirited - and feels an
undeniable
attraction to her. But his career is his focus, until Sarah
inadvertently binds them together forever.
Lady Sarah cannot believe the bad luck she is encountering
on
her journey to visit her twin sister. But being an
independent
and determined woman, she doesn't let things get her down
for
too long. Confused by her deep attraction to her accidental
escort, Braeden McKinnon, Sarah longs to explore the
passion
that is simmering between them. But Sarah has a plan and it
does not involve marriage and children. So she is left in
total shock when she discovers that her insignificant
little
lie has resulted in marriage! But Sarah is determined to
forge
on alone with her plan for independence. Now if only her
heart
would listen to her head. With dangerous highwaymen,
carriage
accidents, illness, passion, friendship and stubborn
hearts,
who knows what will happen in the wild Highlands?
THE HIGHLANDER'S ACCIDENTAL MARRIAGE by Callie Hutton is a
beautifully endearing, entertaining Highland romance that
ticked all of the boxes for me. As part of the Marriage
Mart Mayhem series, the author provides us with in-
depth
characters that we care about, and inevitably fall in love
with. Lady Sarah is strong, independent, funny and feisty
but
believes that a husband would try to stop her creativity
and
stifle her. Braeden has his future planned out, but longs
for
Sarah in a way that he didn't believe possible. Both
characters are stubborn and passionate and the development
of
their relationship was a joy to read. THE HIGHLANDER'S
ACCIDENTAL MARRIAGE by Callie Hutton is everything I hoped
it
would be, and I highly recommend it to all romance fans.
She never intended to take a husband...
Scotland, 1817
The Duke of Manchester's sister, Lady Sarah Lacey, always
abides by the rules of etiquette. Fate, however, has no
such
confines. On a journey to the Scottish Highlands, Lady
Sarah
is set upon by misfortune-leaving her without carriage or
chaperone, and left to the mercy of a kind and handsome
gentleman. Whom (in order to secure a room at an inn) she
announces is her husband.
When she proclaims they're married in public, Professor
Braeden McKinnon can't bring himself to correct the lovely
Lady Sarah. After all, her reputation would be ruined. Nor
can he tell her that her proclamation is not only legally
binding in Scotland, but sharing a room is considered to be
an act of consummation...
Now they are bound together until death do they part-even
if
Sarah has no intention of becoming any man's wife.
