DEAD AS A DOORNAIL by Linda Kozar is absolutely a delight to listen to as Michelle Babb gives her talents toward narrating it. As part of the When The Fat Ladies Sing cozy mystery series, DEAD AS A DOORNAIL is the third in the series and can be read without checking out the prior stories. If you are a fan of cozy mysteries, then listening to Babb's southern drawl will just add to your visual imagination as you absorb every chapter of Lovita and her friends in the town of Wachita.
Lovita is planning her wedding to Hudson. If that isn't stressful enough, she runs into all kinds of obstacles in town, even a murder! As her friend Sue Jan and husband Monroe are having a house built, the contractor is found dead at their unfinished home. Monroe is a suspect, and Lovita is trying to get to the bottom of things. Then the money for the local high school band fundraiser is stolen, which keeps the kids from going to New York City to march in the Macy's Parade. Can Lovita and her friend Sue Jan find a murderer and the missing money before it is all too late and time to say I do?
This cozy mystery is full of quirky characters who will have you laughing with the way they find humor when things get tough. DEAD AS A DOORNAIL will have you wondering who did it without ever giving it away. I hope Linda Kozar has more to come in this great series.
With her wedding to Hudson just months away, all Lovitaβs
plans seem to be going awry. A crooked
politician is running for Mayor, his girlfriend is opening a
new beauty shop in town, and the
contractor building Sue Jan and Monroeβs dream home is found
dead, with Monroe as their prime
suspect. To top it all off, the money from the high school
band fundraiser has disappeared. Now
the kids wonβt be able to go to New York City and march in
the Macyβs Day parade.
All the girls
have to do is nail the real killer, find the missing money,
save their beauty shop, and rescue the
little town of Wachita, before Lovita walks down the aisle.
Can two big bodaciously beautiful
women do it? Piece of cake.
