Lady Rhea Claire is "kidnapped and shipped to the colonies as
an indentured servant." She eventually escapes and finds
herself on the Sea Dragon, a ship captained by the ruthless
Dante Leighton. While they travel, Rhea must convince
Dante of her true identity or she may never return
to her beloved England.
CHANCE THE WINDS OF FORTUNE is the second book in Laurie
McBain's Dominick trilogy. Lady Rhea Claire is resourceful,
witty, and kind hearted. Readers will be engrossed in her
story as soon as she is introduced. Dante Leighton is a
rough around the edges sea captain, and his loyalty and care
for his crew make him a likable hero. The crew of the Sea
Dragon are great fun, and McBain writes the roughened sea
crew well with rowdy banter and charming personalities. It
took a good portion of the book for the hero and heroine to
meet, and I wish they were introduced sooner in the
story.
The suspense and secrets give CHANCE THE WINDS OF FORTUNE
excitement and adventure, and the antagonist is terrifying
with an intriguing backstory. Though, a little long, CHANCE
THE WINDS OF FORTUNE is a romantic sea faring adventure with
suspense and an entertaining crew of characters.
The beloved New York Times bestselling Dominick Trilogy
Rhea blinked in disbelief. "What an insufferable man you
are. And whether you are, as you would have me believe, a
marquis, or whether you are a tinker, I would still find you
the rudest, most vulgar individual I have ever had the
misfortune to encounter."
"Well done, my dear. I am impressed by this splendid show of
ladylike disdain, feigned though it be, but well done
nonetheless. But the light of truth has revealed you in my
cabin. Now, how do you explain yourself out of that?"
Lady Rhea Claire, kidnapped and shipped to the Colonies as
an indentured servant, manages with wits and courage to
escape...straight into the arms of a ruthless English pirate.
For all his worldly ways, Dante Leighton, Marquis of Jacqobi
and captain of the Sea Dragon, never expected to discover
his redemption and his greatest treasure within the amethyst
eyes of a beautiful English refugee.
