Lady Jane Langley has always been a practical, useful and
intelligent woman and has devoted her life to assisting her
father in his many political travels. However, while
travelling to Vienna to be at her father's side, a simple
switch of a carriage, throws Jane into the middle of a
dangerous situation where one companion is killed, another
left for dead, and herself severely injured. But when the
brooding assassin who caused the crash whisks Jane away, her
life will never be the same again. For this enigmatic stranger
cares for her like no other ever has, really listening to her
opinion and respecting her intelligence, but as she falls
deeper for her handsome spy, Jane knows that what they have
will never survive in the real world. But can they let each
other go?
Gerard Badeau has many names for the purpose of his
protection. Born on the wrong side of the blanket, he has been
trained as a weapon from a young child. But this is the first
assignment where he has let his heart rule his head. Knowing
that he is placing Jane in danger by continuing their
relationship, Gerard cannot help but want a clean slate and a
future with the woman who holds his heart. But Gerard has many
powerful enemies who will gladly kill them both. Can Gerard
protect Jane? Or will he be forced to delve deeper into the
pit of sin to find a way to have her forever?
LADY OF INTRIGUE by Sabrina Darby is an entertaining
historical romance that I found unique and racy in all the
right places. While there were a couple of areas that were a
little too slow in pace, overall the novel had all of the
elements that I love in a Regency tale - sizzling passion,
danger, loyalty and fascinating characters. Gerard is my
favourite character because he has such depth of emotion and
as we learn his history and what he yearns for, you cannot
help but fall for him. LADY OF INTRIGUE by Sabrina Darby is
thoroughly enjoyable and I look forward to more from this
author.
Lady Jane Langley values logic and reason over passion and
emotion. Her intellect has given her value in the eyes of
both her father and society. Logic gives way to terrible,
icy fear when Jane finds herself in a devastating carriage
accident... an accident in which she is helpless to do
anything but watch as her aristocratic companion is
murdered.
But this was no mere accident. This was an assassination.
Spy and grandson of Lord Landsdowne, Gerard Badeau is
methodic in his dark, shadowy work, knowing that any
display
of emotion could get him killed. Something about the
mysterious woman and her cool blue eyes stays Gerard's
lethal hand. Now he has both a witness and a hostage.
And if he doesn't kill Lady Jane Langley, he risks a fate
that is far, far worse...falling in love with her.
