No one was more excited than I was when I learned Lisa Kleypas was going to write a new historical romance series. As a long time fan, her historicals remain as some of my all-time favorite series so to say I had high expectations was an understatement.

COLD-HEARTED RAKE features a somewhat selfish rake, Devon Ravenel, who inherits an entire earldom after the unexpected death of his cousin. Devon wants nothing to do with his new responsibilities so he intends to sell everything. But when Lady Treanor, the new widow, finds out about Devon's plans, she won't let him take away her home without a fight.

Kathleen is a very strong heroine and readers will see this side of her many times throughout the book. It takes a lot to stand up to a man like Devon but Kathleen never shies away from what she believes is the right thing to do. It's easy to see why Devon and Kathleen are perfect for one another - they simply make up one whole person. She is the moral compass that guides him and instead of being the insensitive, reckless man he was before, Devon becomes the loving, sweet man of her dreams.

As always, Kleypas injects this book with her trademark humor and wit. I was grinning throughout the entire novel. As she begins to introduce other characters, you cannot help but fall in love with them. As large a cast as it is, I shouldn't have felt a connection to each, but I have and I am possibly more excited about their books than I was about reading this book. There's something endearing about each of her characters, and you come to care about them very quickly. As a result, this book has a lot of set up for the future books in the series. I already cannot wait!

COLD-HEARTED RAKE is everything I expected and more. Fans need not worry, Lisa Kleypas is back and better than ever!
