Olivia Stewart risks everything to accomplish her dreams. She has had years of pity because she was jilted and was growing tired of teaching other people's children without any of her own. She signs with a matrimonial agency and after receiving a letter from one Jamie Fraser of Colorado, she is intrigued. He sounds perfect, a widower with two young children. But upon arrival at the ranch she is THE SURPRISE BRIDE: JAMIE didn't want. He didn't know anything about the letter.
It seems their mother, tired of her boy's resistance to the matrimonial state, has taken things into her own hands. All four sons will be introduced to their new brides and they will marry them right away.
But Jamie is not happy. His first wife had taught him that women couldn't be trusted, but now he is stuck with a stubborn woman who is bent on making changes to his home and his life. Is it possible for two strong-willed people to find happiness, perhaps even get lucky and form a powerful and enduring love?
If you are looking for a western that is a sweet romance, with a stubborn man, tenacious woman with dreams of love and family, then THE SURPRISE BRIDE: JAMIE is one you will want to pick up and not put down. I did love the boy's mother who got tired of them wasting their lives so she found them brides. Throughout this story there are a number of funny moments, poignant ones and a few moments of fear. Since this is in Colorado in the wintertime -- a bit of freezing added to the feel of the plot. The changes in Jamie's children was almost instantaneous, especially his daughter Cat, who was adorable. She went from acting like a little boy to a girl who played with dolls and following Olivia's lead. As you might guess, Jamie did have a good reason for not having much faith in women, and it takes a lot of patience to bring him around. That and the fear of losing her and his son that seals it for him, you will have to read this amazing book to find out how this comes about.
Olivia is resourceful as well as loving toward her new family, which goes far to winning the extended family over. THE SURPRISE BRIDE: JAMIE is to me a story of a woman who is willing to work hard and keep going in spite of adversity to follow her dreams. All I ask is for author Caroline Clemmons to keep these stories coming and I will keep reading them!
