Women's Fiction

In HEROES ARE MY WEAKNESS, Annie has not been back in her hometown for years, but when her mother tells her to go back, she does. Annie's life has been up and down, but going home is going to be her biggest challenge ever. As teens, Theo and Annie had been a little more than friends. Annie is not looking forward to seeing him again. Her mother had been married to Theo's father for a short time. So while Theo lives in the main house now, Annie is in the cottage. Theo doesn't really want her there. Annie feels that Theo is a psycho because of the best-selling novel he has written. Their lives collide like you wouldn't believe. I have always loved Susan Elizabeth Phillips novels. While this one is not really one of my favorites, it is still very good. The feelings between the two main characters is very confusing in parts. They were friends as teenagers, but not so much as adults. Susan tells the backstory as to why these two good friends are now at odds with each other. I also felt that in some parts, HEROES ARE MY WEAKNESS is kind of slow reading, and I did lose my attention to the story line.

SUMMARY

New York Times Bestselling Author Susan Elizabeth Phillips is back with a delightful novel filled with her sassy wit, dazzling charm, and a threat of danger—a modern Jane Eyre It's going to be a long, hot winter. He is a reclusive writer whose imagination creates chilling horror novels. She is a down-on-her-luck actress who's given up far too much. He knows a dozen ways to kill his characters with his bare hands. She knows a dozen ways to kill an audience with laughs. But she's not laughing now. Annie Hewitt has been forced to return to an isolated island off the coast of Maine, a place she hasn't visited since a disastrous summer when she was a teen. She couldn't be more ill prepared for what she finds on the island—or for Theo Harp, the mysterious man who dwells in Harp House, the mansion hovering above her home in Moonraker Cottage. When she was a teenager, Theo betrayed her in a way she can never forget or forgive. Now they're trapped together on a frozen island along with a lonely widow, a mute little girl, and townspeople who don't know how to mind their own business. Is he the villain she remembers, or has he changed? Her head says no. Her heart says yes. The wrong decision could cost her everything.
