In MALICE AT THE PALACE, Georgie had been staying in her friend, Belinda's
place
until Belinda unexpectedly returns. She returns to
Rannoch House to find her brother and sister-in-law
there. Down to her last option, she decides to stay with
her maternal grandfather, until she is asked to stay at
Kensington Palace with her cousin's betrothed wife.
George has led a disreputable life but he is now engaged
to Princess Marina of Greece. Georgie is asked to stay
with Marina and to guide her through society until the
wedding.
With her not-so-trusty maid Queenie at her side, Georgie
moves into Kensington Palace. It seems like life is
finally going her way. Then a dead woman is found on the
grounds as Georgie and Marina return from a night out.
The Queen asks Georgie to help Scotland Yard with their
investigation as they do their best to keep the scandal
under wraps. As Georgie learns more about the life of Bobo
Carrington, she learns that Bobo was once involved
with Darcy O'Mara, Georgie's often missing beau. The
secrets exposed with lead to the identity of the killer.
Rhy Bowen has kept the Royal Spyness series fresh and
exciting. MALICE AT THE PALACE is an interestingly
convoluted mystery based on the history of Kensington
Palace and its ghosts. It ends on an interesting note
with Georgie and Darcy. Don't miss this book if you are
a fan of Ms. Bowen.
Lady Georgiana Rannoch won't deny that being thirty-fifth in line for the British throne has its advantages.
Unfortunately, money isn't one of them. And sometimes making ends meet requires her to investigate a little
royal wrongdoing.
While my beau Darcy is off on a mysterious mission, I am once again caught between my high birth and empty
purse. I am therefore relieved to receive a new assignment from the Queen—especially one that includes
lodging. The King's youngest son, George, is to wed Princess Marina of Greece, and I shall be her companion at
the supposedly haunted Kensington Palace.
My duties are simple: help Marina acclimate to English life, show her the best of London and, above all,
dispel any rumors about George's libertine history. Perhaps that last bit isn't so simple.
George is known for his many affairs with women as well as men—including the great songwriter Noel
Coward. But things truly get complicated when I search the Palace for a supposed ghost only to encounter an
actual dead person: a society beauty said to have been one of Prince George's mistresses.
Nothing spoils a royal wedding more than murder, and the Queen wants the whole matter hushed. But as the
investigation unfolds—and Darcy, as always, turns up in the most unlikely of place...the investigation
brings us precariously close to the prince himself.
