Lark Sommers left San Francisco and her beloved art gallery to uphold a deathbed promise made to her mother, the owner of The Magic Beans coffeehouse. Lark is unhappy, and her sex life in her hometown of Little Lake, Idaho is about as exciting as a potato. Her close friends, Cassia and Sara, pester her about letting loose and having at least a one-night stand. Then Sara takes it upon herself to remedy the situation: her birthday is coming up and she'll ask her brother Shane O'Brian to the party. He can't refuse his little sister!
Boy meets girl, or rather man meets woman, man and woman have sex. Who but Tawny Weber could take this premise and weave a delightfully fresh and fun story! A SEAL'S TEMPTATION has fabulous characters, a perfect balance of naughty and nice, and unexpected plot twists. As a SEAL, Shane is brave and fearless. Around women or his family? Not so much, especially his mother who never accepted what he did for a living. He is reserved, quiet, and such a lovely, sweet and kind man. In Shane, I believe Ms. Weber has created a now-favourite hero of mine. Lark is also a terrific character, determined but at the same time hesitant -- not meek in the least. Shane and Lark share exquisite chemistry. They have mind-blowing sex, but so much more: respect, empathy, laughs and communication.
A SEAL'S TEMPTATION's romance is also built upon a very solid story which features some superb secondary characters. Sara is sublime in all her effervescence and bubbliness, and I absolutely adored Lark's Aunt Heather and her aphrodisiac pastries.
A SEAL'S TEMPTATION is a fresh and sexy romance with deeper undertones as Lark and Shane must face some of their personal issues. Ms. Weber's writing is better than ever, and the dialogue and banter between the characters are even stronger than before, which is saying a lot because it has always been Tawny Weber's forte. A SEAL'S TEMPTATION creeps up on you and will keep you riveted until the last page because it is one of the loveliest sexy contemporary romances I have read in a while!
