Meredith Anderson finally managed to leave all the people adding negativity to her life behind and start over. She has begun a new life for herself at Tall Pines, working as a partner with her sister in her wedding planning business. Meredith thinks she has everything figured out including revamping herself to what she believes is to be a confident woman only to run into some trouble or the other with Gage coming to rescue each time.

Gage Mackenzie is all set to leave Tall Pines to become his own man. Meredith is unlike any woman he knows and is a complication he does not need. Yet since the time she fell into his arms a year ago, he only wants her, giving up his playboy ways for the protective side her sweet innocence brings out. Until one night when his control is thrown out the window due to her outrageous proposal.

RESCUED BY THE RANCHER is a sweet tale of starting over, confronting the past, and second chances. Meredith is a naive character who finally learns to grow into her own, confront her overbearing parents and cheating fiancé. She has low self-esteem and is mistaken for leading a charmed, spoiled city life thanks to her rich parents but the opposite is true. Determined to correct the image, her journey is admirable. Gage also carries low self-esteem due to his past; trailer trash drunk, druggie mom and step-dad and a super rich dad he does not want anything to do with. Thanks to Meredith he sees things in a new light and a revelation turns his world upside down. I liked the chemistry between the two and how they overcame the odds to rescue themselves and each other from a life of misery. Meredith's pain and secret broke my heart.

RESCUED BY THE RANCHER is heartbreaking with some sweet heartwarmingly funny moments. The secondary characters are vibrant and add to their story. Cannot wait to read more of Tall Pine Ranch stories by Victoria James especially see more of Gage's estranged siblings. Their HEA will leave you with a good feeling and newfound believe in happy endings and love.
