Tragedy has struck, leaving Rory Deveaux and her ghost
hunting friends floundering and directionless. Meanwhile,
Rory's classmate, Charlotte, is missing and potentially
in danger. Is a death cult at work in London? Rory and
the rest of the ghost hunters will have to work past
their grief if they have any hope of stopping the
unthinkable from occurring.
THE SHADOW CABINET is the third book in the Shades of
London series. The storyline picks up immediately
after the stunning conclusion of THE MADNESS UNDERNEATH
and is best appreciated in the context of the series as a
whole. All the storylines and relationships are starting
to come together. THE SHADOW CABINET is easily my
favorite book yet in the series!
THE SHADOW CABINET delves into the history and
conspiracies underpinning the entire existence of the
ghost hunting team. We're starting to learn more about
what the terminus is and how it came into existence.
Maureen Johnson does a great job giving us the
information without too much info dumping and the
inclusion of Freddie Sellars is a stroke of brilliance.
Maureen Johnson offers up ghosts, cults, and conspiracy
theories aplenty in THE SHADOW CABINET. I love the
direction the series is taking as our characters are
starting to coalesce into a true team with a real sense
of direction. Rory has been our primary focus in the
earlier books, but THE SHADOW CABINET lets us get to know
the other team members a bit better. I particularly like
the insight we get into Stephen's character. I loved
every minute of THE SHADOW CABINET and can't wait to see
what the next book has in store for us!
The thrilling third installment to the Edgar-nominated, bestselling series
Shades of London.
Rory and her friends are reeling from a series of sudden and tragic events.
While racked with grief, Rory tries to determine if she acted in time to save
a member of the squad. If she did, how do you find a ghost? Also, Rory's
classmate Charlotte has been kidnapped by Jane and her nefarious organization.
Evidence is uncovered of a forty-year-old cult, ten missing teenagers, and a
likely mass murder. Everything indicates that Charlotte's in danger, and it
seems that something much bigger and much more terrible is coming.
Time is running out as Rory fights to find her friends and the ghost squad
struggles to stop Jane from unleashing her spectral nightmare on the entire
city. In the process, they'll discover the existence of an organization that
underpins London itself—and Rory will learn that someone she trusts has
been keeping a tremendous secret.
