Nathan Trainor, self-made billionaire, is fed up with women wanting him for his money and prestige. While nursing his sorrows at his very exclusive club, Nathan makes the acquaintance of two other members similarly contemplating their futures. Connecting over their woes, they make a wager to find true love within the year, and whoever loses must give up something of intrinsic value. But the bet is soon forgotten when Nathan is taken ill with the flu epidemic that has wiped out almost all of his staff.
Chloe Russell, who is temping for Trainor Electronics, is happy to fill in as the CEO's secretary. Disliking large corporations for what they had done to her father, Chloe is delighted with the paycheck which she desperately needs to look after her live-in grandmother. What she didn't expect was the instant attraction to her new boss, or to find herself playing nursemaid to him at his home when he is taken ill. As Chloe and Nathan spend more time together, their scorching attraction cannot be extinguished. But as passion and friendship develop between the pair, their differences also become apparent. With both of them dealing with issues from their past, will they trust in their feelings and wager on their future together?
THE CEO BUYS IN by Nancy Herkness is a provocative, contemporary romance that kept me riveted from start to finish. With sexy characters that are so much more beneath the surface, and love scenes that are sizzling in all the right places, this novel flows effortlessly. Learning about Nathan and Chloe's past helped me fall even more in love with their story. Although I'm not sure about the title - it just doesn't do it for me - I really enjoyed this novel, and as it is the first in The Wager of Hearts series, I cannot wait for the next instalment. THE CEO BUYS IN by Nancy Herkness is an engrossing and engaging romance and I highly recommend it.
