Romance Historical

Susannah Carlyle ventures into the Wild West of Denver in 1873, traveling from her home in England. With her parents dead since she was 10, she was raised by her grandmother. The Rocky Mountains call to Susannah to paint its beautiful landscapes and wildflowers. Traveling with her former governess, they will be staying with friends from England. In THE GOLD MINER'S WIFE, Susannah befriends Catori, the half-Navajo housemaid, and meets Thomas Sprague who owns half interest in the gold mine, The Five Nuggets. Partnered with Jack Simmons, their mine is profitable but dangerous. Jack is attracted to Susannah but yields to Thomas, who first set eyes on her. It was love at first sight for Thomas and Susannah, and quickly culminated in marriage. Her old friends from England, Edward Mansfield and his sister Charlotte, make a trip to visit Susannah. Jack is immediately suspicious of Edward's interests in the mine. There is an unexplained explosion that claims Thomas's life and Jack is intent on finding the culprit responsible. Susanna must return to England to tend to her ill grandmother, but the investigation leaves her in danger. Amethyst Creek has included everything in this exciting tale of mystery, suspense, murder and romance. THE GOLD MINER'S WIFE is the first I have had the pleasure of reading this very talented author. Amethyst Creek has the ability to capture the reader's attention. The excitement and mystery throughout definitely kept me glued to each word. I will endeavor to search for more works by this gifted author. This is a great story to curl up with, and I promise you will not be bored!
