Maddox Crawford was one of the Perfect Gentlemen of Creighton Academy. His sudden death sends his friends and especially Gabriel Bond's life reeling. Not only must he bury his best friend but Mad left a mess that he must clean up. The wealthy, privileged, powerful life these friends have lived is about to be torn down because SCANDAL NEVER SLEEPS.
To escape everything that Mad's death has brought upon him, Gabe finds himself in the arms of a beautiful stranger, but the mind blowing one night stand is about to come back to haunt him. In more ways than he ever expected.
Maddox had groomed Everly Parker as a rising star in the executive world. Now with him gone she is sure her job will be the next thing she mourns, especially when she accidentally ended up sleeping with her new boss. But Everly has a secret of her own that will pit this couple against unknown and known enemies.
SCANDAL NEVER SLEEPS is undeniably a compelling, complex read. The beginning of this book shows this group of "Gentlemen" getting themselves, or at least one of them, out of being expelled, which gives a hint to the future. The past moves to the future with a funeral for Maddox and the many troubles he left behind, including his own murder. Added to the mix is Gabe's pregnant sister, a misunderstanding with Everly's background, things that aren't adding up and Gabe's head is spinning, but not for long. If there was anything the "Gentlemen" can do is figure out a crisis and fix it.
At first I wasn't sure if I liked Gabe, but he had his moments where he wasn't just a wealthy jerk and he grew on me. Everly also seemed a little wishy-washy but she too stepped up and stood up and I liked her by the middle of the book. There were a number of twists and turns that did make me stop and think -- not in confusion, just me trying to figure out the mystery. I did not expect the ending that came. I was honestly way out in left field with my assumption. Authors Shayla Black and Lexi Blake can weave a mystery with steamy sex and the privileged lifestyle like few other authors, and this is only book one of their Perfect Gentlemen series. I cannot wait for more!
