Lady Sophie Barnes is a headstrong and reckless daughter
of the
Marquess of Ardington whose latest mission is to figure
out the mystery behind the disappearance of poor,
unfortunate women whom work in brothels. She's not
concerned
about the criminals who will cross her path and her
reputation so she dresses up as a gentleman, Sir Stephen,
and goes to brothels to investigate.
Now not only she is not close to solving the mystery, but
also she needs desperately to learn how to shoot a loaded
gun in a duel. The only one person can help her: Lord
Quint,
the man who broke her heart years ago (of course it was
Lady
Sophia fault; she Kissed lord Quint and turned down his
marriage proposal, so Lord Quint proposed to another
beautiful lady).
Damien Beecham, Viscount Quint is struggling with the fear
of going mad like his father. Since he was six years old
and
witnessed his father's madness, he has been investigating
and
researching about the cure and prevention of mental
illness.
But after a bullet grazes him when he is helping his
friend, he almosts dies from the fever afterward; he
starts
to have panic attacks and becomes scared of losing his
sanity
like his father.
Damien becomes a recluse, except he can't stop the
beautiful
Lady Sophie's intrusion with a perilously absurd request,
teach her how to duel. Now Damien is fighting a battle of
his own, one he wishes to keep hidden—along with his
feelings for Lady Sophia and protecting her.
THE LADY HELLION is the third book in the Wicked
Deceptions
series, it can be read as a stand-alone but it is better
to
read the first two books and then this one.
THE LADY HELLION is historical, but has elements of
romantic suspense. The
hero and the heroine are totally different from what I
read
about them in the first two books. Lord Quint was an
intelligent and strong secondary character but in this
book
he is a weak hero who doesn't always make wise decisions.
Lady Sophie is different too; she is reckless and keeps
putting herself in dangers, going out almost every night
as
a gentleman and visits the brothels all the time. I must
say
that I love when the heroines are brave and dress up as
gentlemen usually to visit men's club or brothels once or
twice, but not every night especially when she encounters
dangers and threats.
Joanna Shupe is an excellent writer, I really enjoyed her
Wicked Deceptions series.
Lady Sophia Barnes doesn't take no for an answer. Especially when she's
roaming London's seedy underground...dressed as a man.
A rabble rouser for justice, Sophie's latest mission is to fight for the rights of
the poor, the wretched--and the employees at Madame Hartley's brothel.
She's not concerned about the criminals who will cross her path, for Sophie
has mastered the art of deception--including the art of wearing trousers. Now
her fate is in her own hands, along with a loaded gun. All she needs is
instruction on how to shoot it. But only one person can help her: Lord Quint,
the man who broke her heart years ago. The man she won't let destroy her
again...
The last thing Damien Beecham, Viscount Quint, needs is an intrusion on his
privacy, especially from the beautiful, exasperating woman he's never stopped
wanting. A woman with a perilously absurd request, no less! For Damien is
fighting a battle of his own, one he wishes to keep hidden--along with his
feelings for Lady Sophia. Yet that fight is as hopeless as stopping her
outlandish plan. Soon all Quint knows for certain is that he will die trying to
protect her...
