Romance Contemporary

Melody loves her job as a hospice nurse even though it is tough to watch people in their final stages of life. While nursing Old Roy, she strikes up a genuine friendship with him, and when she needs somewhere to stay, he helps her out by offering her his spare room. But Melody never expected that when Roy died he would leave her half of his cabin by the lake, with his estranged nephew receiving the other half. For the girl who was always bounced from one foster home to another, it is a dream come true to finally have a home of her own, even if she believes she will always be alone. And there is no way that she is going to let some selfish jerk, who wasn't even there for Roy at the end, push her out of her new life. Levi McDaniels has finally come home. After cheating death in the war, he carries both physical and mental scars that he struggles with. Heartbroken that his uncle is gone before they could patch things up, Levi is determined to get rid of the gold digger that has inherited half of his childhood home. Just because he has lost one leg doesn't mean that he will be a pushover. When Melody and Levi meet, neither are prepared for the confusing feelings that spring up between them. And as it becomes clear that they are stuck with each other as roommates for the next year, will they be able to figure out what it is that they want from each other? Throw in a chaotic canine, some true friends, online dating and a disastrous blast from the past, and Melody and Levi may get a whole lot more than they bargained for! THE INHERITANCE by Morgan K. Wyatt is a sweet, contemporary romance that had me smiling and crying in equal measure. Melody's career and relationships with her patients had me shedding a tear on more than one occasion, and the author wrote these scenes with beautiful compassion and tenderness. Both Melody and Levi have had extremely tough times in their lives and it was interesting to watch their friendship develop and evolve, as they adjusted to their differences and discovered their similarities. THE INHERITANCE by Morgan K. Wyatt is a delightful read and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

SUMMARY

Melody’s work as a hospice nurse both gives her life purpose and rips her heart out when her patients die. Her latest client left her his lakeside home. After years of living in foster homes, Melody seizes the opportunity for a real home. Her happy residence comes to an abrupt halt when her benefactor’s missing nephew, Levi, shows up. A bomb shattered his leg and life, which left him in need of a safe place to figure out the rest of his life. The will leaves the house to both of them, but only if they cohabit for a year. Otherwise, the house goes to a third party. Melody detests Levi for never writing or visiting his dying uncle. Levi considers Melody little more than a gold digger similar to his ex-wife. There’s no way he’ll let her have his inheritance.

Great review. I hope the reviewer is a writer because she
has a way with words. :)
