Pepper Pomeroy is to be Maid of Honor at her sister, Felecity's wedding in three months. Today is the day Pepper, Felecity and their mom, are shopping for the perfect wedding dress. Piece of cake...or is it? Tired and discouraged after three uneventful tries at three bridal boutiques, it is time to regroup, have a gooey chocolate pastry and an iced coffee and then go on to the last appointment at Bridal Dreams.
Heading to their last stop of the day, Pepper calls the shop to tell them they are running late but no one answers the phone. Strange. Arriving at the shop, no one is there and when Pepper goes out the back door thinking the clerk is having a smoke, she finds a body, stabbed and dead. It is the owner of the shop. The police arrive and the search begins to find the murderer, and Pepper becomes involved in the investigation.
Pepper recently called it quits with Bobby, after five wasted years in a going nowhere relationship. She has begun dating Gage, a handsome, friend of Bobby, who has known Pepper since high school, and this relationship is sweet and getting serious.
Pepper has started a new business Perfect Proposals and several of her contracts were really creative and full of imagination. Using the theme of CASABLANCA at the Music Box Theater was delightful and ended with a happy couple, family and friends. A parachute jump into the fields into the arms of family and friends holding cue cards, followed by luncheon and dancing in a big tent was joyful and a successful and Perfect Proposal. Her business is definitely taking off!
Ms. Parra has written a funny, romantic plot with a twist of a mystery with zany characters who added an extra bit of zip. In the end the mystery is solved, the killer is apprehended, Felicity finds her perfect dres, and so does Pepper and their mom. BODICE OF EVIDENCE is a treat for readers. Time for a sequel, perhaps?
