Some of Higgins greats characters come together to take
out a threat from the past.
Sean Dillion and Sara Gideon, along with a host of big
named characters from previous books, fight an old enemy
with a new twist in RAIN ON THE DEAD from Jack Higgins.
Jack Higgins reintroduces a character from Sean's past. A
connection to a younger Sean's murky and shady days. This
character brings along with him a strong young female,
that was exposed early on in her life to extreme violence.
She could possibly be a new heroine built into a future
book. If you are looking for a fast paced read, this will
do. Globe trotting, intrigue, explosions and lots of dead
people are included.
I enjoyed reading RAIN ON THE DEAD from Jack Higgins, but
there were too many major characters in play throughout
the book. At times Sean Dillion and Sara Gideon were lost
in the noise form the supporting cast. You will need to
pay attention or you'll have to backtrack. There are a
couple of passages that leave you wondering what just
happened.
There is a possibility that the threads that I grasped
from within RAIN ON THE DEAD might lead to future stories,
but then again I might just be seeing things that aren't
there. I hope that you can find your own threads and see
where they lead you.
The past comes back to haunt Sean Dillon and his
colleagues,
as the New York Times-bestselling master of suspense
returns
with a knife-edge story of terrorism, revenge, and a very
old nemesis.
In the past few years, the killing and capture of many
Al-Qaeda leaders has left the terrorist organization
wounded—but by no means dead. And they intend to prove it.
On a dark summer night, two Chechen mercenaries emerge
from
the waters off Nantucket to kill a high-value target, the
former president of the United States, Jake Cazalet.
Unfortunately for them, Cazalet has guests with him,
including black ops specialist Sean Dillon and his
colleague, Afghan war hero Captain Sara Gideon.
The Chechens do not survive the night, but Dillon is
curious
as to how they even got on the island. What he discovers
sends a chill through his bones—a name from very far back
in
Dillon’s past. If this man is working with the terrorists
now, the assassination attempt is only the beginning—and
the
next time, the results might be much, much different.
