Fresh out of college, Piper Marie Brody isn't pursuing a career as thought by her parents....or Piper. Wrong about her choice of college major and choice of her past boyfriend, Piper wonders how she could have gone so far astray. Sharing an apartment with Lin, a gay guy, she now finds herself selling books at the airport for Book Nook. How can that be?

Stuck with a suckie job and boss, Piper barely keeps her bills paid and Wulfie, her faithful car, going. But how to make more money when what she wants to do is write. Posting a listing on craigslist.org for services might not be her smartest move yet. Offering up as a hired bridesmaid brings several results for her first job. How hard can this be?

Susan Bell is nice but meeting her brother Charlie is even nicer. A definite connection is made and that first kiss is totally awesome! Keeping in contact has her heart soaring until Charlie turns cold on her. A couple more jobs through craigslist.org and she knows why. All of a sudden she's a bridesmaid for Charlie's wedding and nothing seems right or happy for Charlie or his intended. Especially when his sister Susan hires her to investigate his reasons for marrying Holly, the gorgeous socialite.

There's no one who wouldn't enjoy this gutsy, quirky read. Piper is that colorful, out-of-the-peg character, full of life, originality and drive. She's sprints from one little adventure into another, striving to put her life to order and changing everyone else's around her. This is such a delightful read filled with gutsy anecdotes and out-of-the-box solutions. Definitely an entertaining and amusing tale by this talented author from page one to the end. It took a very original minded author to come up with BORROW-A_BRIDESMAID, and I loved it. Anne Wagener has talent to spare!

SUMMARY

A hilarious, touching, coming-of-age novel from debut author Anne Wagener.

Piper is a recent college grad who decides to sell her body on Craigslist—as a hired bridesmaid. Her airport bookseller job just isn’t bringing home the turkey bacon, and no one’s going to pay her to analyze Milton’s poetry. Turns out, having an English literature degree from an upstanding university isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

Piper’s Craigslist endeavor soon picks up steam, netting her clients such as Southern peach Stacey, whose interracial marriage causes a family feud, and Alex, a bride-to-be who’s so type A she’s type A-plus. Between fighting off matching T-shirt–wearing teams of “bustle bitches” at gown sales and learning more about fondant than the Cake Boss, Piper falls for Charlie Bell, the brother of a client. A fellow aspiring writer, Charlie’s the only person recently who’s encouraged Piper to follow her dreams. Not to mention, he’s pretty darn cute.

But when Charlie turns out to be the groom in one of her gigs—and set to marry the craziest bridezilla of them all—Piper must band together with her newfound friends and stop Charlie from making the biggest mistake of his life.
