Roni Axton has worked hard at appearing aloof and unfazed by Marcus Fuller, the pack enforcer, but she fears some DARK INSTINCTS are about to take over. Marcus Fuller has always felt the intoxicating crackle of sexual awareness whenever Roni is around. It's annoying because she is not the type of flirty female who has always flocked around him and the lethal Shifter has done her best to keep away from him.
When a brutal attack by a jackal pack forces them to work together, Marcus thinks it's the perfect opportunity for him to chip away at her defenses. Good plan only it backfires and he falls into his own trap unprepared for the intensity of their connection. Roni finds that Marcus is indeed the charmer everyone believes but there is also a depth to him no one else ever sees. Now Marcus is sure that claiming Roni will mean never letting her go.
DARK INSTINCTS is the fourth book in the Phoenix Pack novels by author Suzanne Wright and they just keep getting better. These books are the stories of the Phoenix Pack but they also include their allies the Mercury and Ryland Packs who work together for protection. DARK INSTINCTS starts out action packed and continues in that same vein to the end.
Both Marcus and Roni have less than perfect pasts but they do have in common a strong sense of loyalty, even to those who don't treat them very well. He's a gorgeous flirt and she is one of the wittiest, snarkiest, socially inept heroine's I have had the pleasure of reading. I loved the lollipop thing that Marcus quickly realizes she uses to hide behind and the way she would throw out an obtuse fact that would often freeze up whoever was talking. I wasn't really thrilled with her family but once she had Marcus I didn't care anymore, because he put a stop to a lot of the nonsense.
If you are looking for a book with a shifter couple who are a little different, with sex scenes that will blow you away and a love story that gives you the happily-ever-after readers seek then DARK INSTINCTS will be a book you have to pick up.
It happens whenever wolf shifter Roni Axton is near Marcus
Fuller: a crackle of sexual awareness thatβs intoxicatingβ¦
and
deeply annoying. Marcus is a pack enforcer who oozes
power,
but Roni is lethal in her own rightβnothing like the
flirty
females who flock around him. Even still, his possessive
gaze
makes one thing clear. Marcus has singled her out for
seduction, and he wants to make her sit up and beg.
No matter how aloof and unfazed Roni acts, Marcus can tell
she
wants him. When a brutal attack by a jackal pack forces
them
to work together, itβs the perfect opportunity for Marcus
to
chip away at her defensesβuntil he falls into his own
trap,
completely unprepared for the intensity of their
connection.
Roni is the only one whoβs ever seen past his shifter
charm
and discovered the man hiding beneath it. And for Marcus,
claiming Roni once will mean needing her forever.
