Katherine Emerson is a thirty-four year old woman looking
for the
dream of true love when she meets David Balan and an
intense
man named Sael. Both of these men bring out different
sides
of her personality and, even though she wants to choose
the
safer option of David, Sael still pulls at the darker,
more
passionate side of her. Every time she believes that she
has
made her decision, something happens that makes her unsure
once more.
This is not the most important thing going on in
Katherine's
life, however. There is a ruthless serial killer stalking
the city, spreading fear among the population as he kills
one woman after another in a horrific, ritualistic way.
What
Katherine does not realize is the vital role that she
plays
in his fantasies and that she is the ultimate prize.
Her roommate and best friend, defense attorney Andrea
Bowers
is a single mother with a five year old son. Adorable
little
Lucas has recently developed a "gift" of sorts. He sees
blood soaked women that he calls "The Ladies." They seem
to
be using Lucas to help warn Katherine of something, but
will
she believe him before it is too late?
LOVE IS RED is one of the most unique and amazing books I
have ever had the pleasure of reading. There is so much
going on in the plot that I was completely drawn into this
creepy and shocking world; a world that I went into quite
willingly. Sophie Jaff is a true word smith. There is
simply
no other way to say it. Her use of imagery and colors to
describe emotions is one of the most captivating writing
techniques that I have seen. She has crafted a story that
is
simultaneously beautiful and terrifying.
Readers should be warned, however, that LOVE IS RED is not
a
book to be read lightly. It is spellbinding, but it is not
the typical sort of story that you might expect. Nothing
has
prepared you for a book such as LOVE IS RED, yet it will
be
one of the most horrifying and remarkable reading
experiences that you will ever have. Soak in everything
that
it has to offer and you will not be disappointed.
Redefining the thriller's tale of the hunter and the
hunted,
This electrifying, hypnotically beautiful debut spins dark
suspense and literary fantasy into a mesmerizing story of
survival.
Katherine Emerson was born to fulfill a dark prophecy
centuries in the making, but she doesn't know it yet.
However, one man does: a killer stalking the women of New
York City, a monster the media dubs the "Sickle Man"
because
of the weapon he uses to turn his victims' bodies into
canvases for his twisted art. People think he's the next
Son
of Sam, but we know how he thinks and how he feels . . .
and
discover that he is driven by darker, much more dangerous
desires than we can bear to imagine. He takes more than
just
his victims' lives, and each death brings him closer to
the
one woman he must possess at any cost.
Amid the city's escalating hysteria, Katherine is trying
to
unknot her tangled heart. Two very different men have
entered her previously uneventful world—handsome and
personable David, alluring yet aloof Sael—and turned it
upside down. She finds herself involved in a complicated
triangle . . . but how well does she really know either of
them?
Told from the alternating viewpoints of Katherine and the
Sickle Man, Sophie Jaff's intoxicating narrative will pull
you in and hold you close. As the body count rises,
Katherine is haunted by harrowing visions that force her
to
question her sanity. All she wants is to find love. He
just
wants to find her.
Ablaze with fear, mystery, and possibility, Love Is Red is
the first book in the Night Song trilogy. With this
unforgettable novel—one that combines the literary and the
supernatural, fantasy and horror, the past and the
present—Katherine's moment of awakening is here. And her
story is only just beginning.
