SPIRITS, STILETTOS, AND A SILVER BUSTIER is Book 1 in the Pyper Rayne series by Deanna Chase. This is the first book I've read by Deanna Chase, but after reading SPIRITS, STILETTOS, AND A SILVER BUSTIER, it will not be my last. I couldn't put this book down. As soon as I finished, I snagged a copy of the first book in Deanna Chase's Jade Calhoun series -- which I loved.

Pyper Rayne makes an interesting protagonist -- she is earthy, fun, strong and sexy. She is also a person who cares for those around her and fights for them. Another interesting fact about Pyper is that she's a medium. I look forward to reading future books to learn more about Pyper's powers and how she deals with them. I love how Deanna Chase uses the paranormal elements in this story to the best advantage to create an entertaining and high energy story. The ghost stuff, romance, and mystery are balanced perfectly in SPIRITS, STILETTOS, AND A SILVER BUSTIER.

Deanna Chase does a great job of building suspense -- especially when it comes to Pyper and the men in her life. She has two potential suitors, and I was guessing right up until the end who the good guy was. Julius the ghost is sexy, enigmatic and troubled. I love the chemistry he has with Pyper. The sense of danger that runs throughout SPIRITS, STILETTOS, AND A SILVER BUSTIER gives the romance an exciting edge without overshadowing it. The adrenaline-filled ending had me on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next.

SPIRITS, STILETTOS, AND A SILVER BUSTIER has everything I love -- mystery, spooky ghost action, humor, and romance. This is a must-read for paranormal romance fans who like their suspense cut with a little humor and sexiness. The main characters are all wonderful and I like how tight their relationships with each other are. I look forward to reading the next book by Deanna Chase!
