Romance Contemporary | Romance Suspense

Tonio Salvatore has always put his job first. As a detective for Sugarland police department he knows his duty and never questions the rules he has sworn to live by until Angel Silva. Then the undercover cop finds himself ON THE RUN and trying to keep the beauty and himself safe and alive. Angel Silva grew up on the wrong side of the tracks but is desperate to escape that life. She wants to break free of her dangerous brother and his gang but when she meets the new recruit, Tonio Reyes she feels even more trapped. She knows the sexy man isn't what he seems to be but when she learns the truth that he is Tonio Salvatore ... a cop, she is forced to go ON THE RUN for her life. Instead of taking her into custody Tonio finds himself risking his career to keep her safe. As they spend more time together he realizes something else. He is willing to risk his very life to keep her free. ON THE RUN is an amazing, fast paced, suspense-filled read. It starts out a little differently; giving a hint of the ending then it goes back to five weeks earlier where we get to meet Tonio and Angel. I have to admit that the prologue did take a bit of the spark out of the suspense for me, but it also made me wonder how he got where he was so no real damage. Tonio and Angel's attraction is immediate with a lot of wild and steamy moments as well as tender ones. The bad guy is really bad and everything he deals with is dark and gritty and I couldn't figure out how Angel, who underneath it all is a sweetheart, could be related to him. Author Jo Davis continues her Sugarland Blues series with ON THE RUN and manages to keep the action fresh, the characters down-to-earth with the camaraderie among the Blues team very evident and stronger than ever. Good read Ms. Davis, keep them coming.

SUMMARY

In the latest Sugarland Blue novel, Detective Tonio Salvatore always puts his job first—until a beautiful piece of trouble has him questioning the rules he’s sworn to live by - Tonio knows that loneliness is the price he has to pay to avoid being hurt again. But the strictly by-the-book cop never expected to be blindsided by a woman who pulls him right out of his self-imposed isolation. Angel Silva isn’t just from the wrong side of the tracks—she’s on the wrong side of the law. She’s desperate to break free from her dangerous brother and his gang, but when a sexy new recruit joins them, Angel is more trapped than ever—because the ruthless Tonio Reyes isn’t what he seems. When she discovers the man she’s falling for is one of Sugarland’s finest, she’s forced to go on the run. Instead of taking Angel into custody, Tonio finds himself risking his career to keep her safe. And as the beautiful woman tears down all his defenses, Tonio realizes he’ll risk his very life to set her free.
