Georgia magistrate MacLaren Yarbrough can't get away from
murder even when she's on vacation. Scotland wasn't her
first choice of destinations, but she agreed to accompany
her friend Laura, so here she is with a small group of
American tourists on an old rickety bus in the cold and
damp Highlands. At least she'll have a chance to visit her
ancestral village of Auchnagar and look up some family
roots.
Led by an inexperienced tour guide, the haphazard trip
progresses, but nothing seems to go according to plan for
this unusual bunch of people. Things really get weird when
two coffins show up in the chapel at Auchnagar, and no one
knows why they're there. When the dead body of a man from
their group is found inside one of the coffins, everyone is
upset. But after a dead body in the second coffin is
discovered later, things go from bad to worse. Will
MacLaren be able to assist the police in learning the
identity of the murderer among them before another dead
body turns up -- maybe even her own!?
This cozy mystery was a totally enjoyable reading
experience. Not only are all the characters well-developed,
but vivid descriptions had me feeling like I was in the
Highlands on that old bus along with everyone else. Great
addition to this charming series.
Georgia magistrate MacLaren Yarbrough is bound for Scotland
to explore her genealogical roots along with her friend
Laura, not to mention a tour group full of unusual travel
mates. But when two empty coffins mysteriously appear in
the church in the small town where the group is staying-
though none of the locals have died - things take a turn
for the macabre. And when the bodies of two Americans are
discovered occupying the coffins, MacLaren finds herself
back on the job. Can she tie it all together, before she
winds up in a coffin of her own?
