Paige Walker is a Hollywood star who has the awards to prove it. A scandal has erupted showing a sex tape with a woman believed to be Paige with her director, who is married and has children. What makes the tape more believable is she just got denied the part that she longs for working with the same director. Is it sour grapes or is she innocent of any wrong doing? Are Paige's "no comment" remarks to all this publicity to prevent more negative attention? She decides to return home to Windfall Island to old friends that will welcome and protect her. She will relax and wait until the scandal that has rocked her passes and proves her innocence.

Attorney Alex Barclay, of the Boston Barclays, is handsome, wealthy, single a bit arrogant and opinionated. He makes a statement to the press insinuating that Paige Walker is a Hollywood star used to getting whatever she wants and only made the sex tape to get the next part she felt was for her. When she meets Alex in Windfall Island it is fireworks from the start and Paige tells him he is very judgmental and wants nothing to do with him. Alex is stunned and has to rethink his initial assessment of Paige. She is the most beautiful woman he has ever met, he would like to get to know her, and maybe he was too quick to offer his opinion without all the facts?

Alex is In Windfall searching for information about the lost heir to the Stanhope family fortune. Clayton Stanhope wants no one to take over any of his family money and will take whatever means necessary to secure his fortune. Alex has had DNA testing done on Maggie and Jessi to see if they are the the missing Stanhope heir but the tests proved negative. That only leaves Paige, being the right age, to be the long lost heir. She agrees to take the test but while waiting for the results an attempt is made on her life. She walks down wooden steps to the beach for her run every morning and the steps were tampered with. Good thing Alex was there to catch her as she began to fall. Alex decides to stay with her at her home to protect her from any additional danger and they get to know each other, rather intimately.

A colorful cast of characters in this romantic mystery set in a lovely Maine locale. Lots of twists and turns as the trail for finding the elusive Stanhope heir rocks this quiet and very close island community. Love, greed, passion, evil, jealousy, family, spin their web to keep you turning those pages to an ending that is surprising but sweet. I enjoyed the witty and sassy banter between Paige and Alex and their romance, though slow but sure was fun to watch. Entertaining read.
