"Quirky characters and a mystery full of twists and turns"

Fresh Fiction Review

Aground On St. Thomas

Thriller

The island of St. Thomas has been invaded and all communication cut off as the FBI attempts to arrest the Governor and all of the Senators on corruption charges. However, things don't go quite as the FBI planned and now the Governor and two senators, Senator Bobo and Senator Sanchez, are loose and hiding. What plot is afoot on St. Thomas? Is the real corruption something deeper than what Operation Coconut originally intended? AGROUND ON ST. THOMAS is the third book in the Mystery in the Islands series. While the story can be read as a standalone, I suggest reading at least the book prior, Afoot on St. Croix, as we pick up the storylines of several characters from the second novel. In particular, the Coconut Boys make a reappearance as we get to see how things unveil for them once Nova returns on the scene. Rebecca M. Hale excels at crafting quirky characters and AGROUND ON ST. THOMAS is chock full of them! I love how Rebecca M. Hale weaves together the serious with the whimsical, as AGROUND ON ST. THOMAS tackles a very real political divide with eccentric characters who keep the story upbeat and entertaining. I couldn't put AGROUND ON ST. THOMAS down as I had to see how on earth Rebecca M. Hale was going to resolve the complicated web she had created! If you are looking for a mystery that is guaranteed to take twists and turns you don't expect and love quirky characters, then AGROUND ON ST. THOMAS is perfect for your reading pleasure.

SUMMARY

From the New York Times bestselling author of Adrift on St. John and Afoot on St. Croix, comes a tale of intrigue and excitement in the Virgin Islands… The tropical paradise of St. Thomas is shut down as the FBI seizes control of the island to apprehend government officials on bribery charges. Tourists and locals are stranded until FBI agent Gabe “Friday” Stein can find the missing governor and two senators who have eluded capture. Innocent of any crime, Senator Julia Sanchez can only escape wrongful arrest with the help of eccentric Senator Bobo. As they try to blend in with increasingly hostile locals and make their trek across the island to safety, Senator Sanchez is only just beginning to realize the extent of the corruption behind the island’s idyllic façade…
