Violet is the perfect daughter: ambitious, but obedient, charming, but doesn't party like her sister, Lily, and in a relationship with the ideal man...minus his infidelity. After Violet's boyfriend makes it clear he prefers his job to her, she has finally decided to make a move for herself and leave him. Meanwhile, sexy and mysterious Ryder has had his eye on her, and he knows it's time to make a calculated move. Soon, they realize they are in over their head, but now they can't let go.
OWNING VIOLET by Monica Murphy contains everything one hopes for in a romance novel: passion, emotional intensity, brilliant dialogue, and sexy scenes galore. As each chapter passes by, the reader is pulled further into a world where intense and complicated love collides with business, corruption, and family expectations. Throughout the whole novel, an unsuspecting sense of urgency lines each plot point, making this one of the hardest romance novels to try to put down.
Violet, a strong young woman who has played by someone else's rules for so long, meets her match with Ryder, who has satisfied himself for so long that he forgot others could be kind and sincere. Their spark absolutely sizzles between pages of expertly executed scenes of internal and external conflict, renewed strength, dark pasts, and the mesmerizing nature of love that demands all vulnerability.
OWNING VIOLET left me in a ball of overwhelming emotion for characters that I expected to spend several days with but instead whose company I consumed in one evening. Monica Murphy's talent for a complex relationship composed of two individuals whose walls are starting to crack in the best is absolutely superb. Fans of Tessa Bailey and Maya Banks are sure to find another immediate-buy series with this one.
