Mary-Alice Catherine Manley (Mac) owns Manley Maids, a cleaning service. Winning a poker game against her three hunky brothers, they are now contemplating their sentences wearing the tight little mint pants and shirts, cleaning homes. Losing their parents at an early age they have being raised by their paternal and wise grandmother. Bryan, Liam and Sean are committed to their little sister and a deal is a deal. What Mac hadn't counted on though is that her grandmother had her sights set on Mac this time, not the brothers, and she's the target. Before, her grandmother had instigated the men working as maids for women she herself chose for them as partners, with Mac's help.
Holding a crush on her brothers' best friend Jared Nolan since childhood, the conspiracy between his grandmother Mildred and Mac's grandmother, the plot has now thickened. Jared was brought up in a rich and pampered home with special training and a push to join baseball professionally. Now famous and in the spotlight, Jared makes a big mistake involving himself with a gold digger. His life with Celeste is a wake up call when he finds out she has fleeced him of his money, gifts and even his apartment, and has had a "real" boyfriend the whole time. Now she won't leave his home and instead intends to keep it forever.
Being struck by a car driven by her boyfriend, Jared has been seriously injured with broken ribs and leg which requires surgery and extensive PT. Deciding to recuperate at his grandmother's since she has moved to an aged housing, things are now getting hot. Mac has promised both grandmother's to be the housekeeper for Jared's duration and finds this difficult with the way she was humiliated by Jared when they were young he wounded her pride and broker her heart.
Add meddling grandmothers, 4 newborn kittens and Jared's awakening that Mac is a woman now, only adds spice to this relationship. This is not the little tag-along girl Jared remembers but one that makes his heart stutter. Sparks fly, unknown past is discovered in the attic and Mac can't trust her heart getting broken once again.
I thought the last book in this series of the Manley Maids was hot and funny, but Judi Fennell just keeps getting better. With the tables turned on this little feisty maid, the grandmothers are sitting and plotting away to meet the desired ending they know should be. WHAT A WOMAN is packed full of humor, emotion and a just plain fantastic read. If entertainment is what you want, that is definitely what you will get. If WHAT A WOMAN doesn't keep you enraptured with the sizzling sexual innuendos and the unexpected quirkiness at every corner, nothing will. Judi Fennell is a phenomenal author with an uncanny gift for creation.
