On a desperate mission, NSA agent Joaquin Munoz is searching for a little girl who vanished more than 20 years ago. Her dangerous secret could be the downfall for both of them. When he finds the woman who fits the profile, he decides this beauty is HIS TO TAKE.
Bailey Benson is terrified to find herself kidnapped and whisked off to the safety of Club Dominion ... a BDSM club of all places. At first terrified but when her captor demands information on her past she is stunned.
Is it possible that those distant memories and horrible nightmares are real? What is real anymore? Confined to a place that echoes and breathes passion, Joaquin is proving to be not only a strong protector but also a sensual Master. Is this man what was missing from her life? But Joaquin has secrets of his own ... as well as fears that could break her into more pieces. That is if he can even keep them both alive.
HIS TO TAKE is the hot, edgy, intense continuation of author Shayla Black's Wicked Lover series. The dynamic of Bailey (who has a fear of desertion) and Joaquin (who has closed himself off) is fascinating to watch as they grow closer despite the fears. Though I have to admit there were a couple of times I was yelling at him, but that aside, they do fit together very well. Past characters from the series are there of course, helping with the investigation and giving advice, sometimes not well received or asked for but given nonetheless. Ms. Black offers an interesting and creative dynamic through family and friends that will keep you reading and wanting more.
Some of the heart pounding has little to do with the mystery they are all desperately working to solve. As with all this series this book has quite a bit of BDSM, either physical or verbal, involved. So if that bothers you this might not be the book for you. But if you are looking for a story of a couple with fears, regrets, who find themselves holding on to each other in the midst of danger and leading to a HEA then HIS TO TAKE is one you want to pick up.
